dont worry. your husband takes care of you. you can live happily here. ask him to help with the culture for six months. later there is no problem. it will be good here
3 :
are there any types of groups you could join? Maybe something with a Spanish Heritage? Maybe ask around--even the chamber of commerce is a good place to get information from.

There are plenty of jobs for spanish speakers in the US. Go to this website http://www.latpro.com/ and prepare your resume. Good luck.

Where are you located in the US? I know in California there are a lot of organizations and clubs that you could be part of. Try to volunteer somewhere. Also if you are just yearning to get back in touch witch people from there try finding a website where you can chat with people that are from your background. Also if you are just looking for friends possibly you can post on Craig's list looking for a friend from your culture. Good luck!

Hobbies and Friends. What I mean is that you're in a busy place, so why are you isolating yourself? It sounds like you're intimidated by the language barrier (between your Country and English language). You need to find some fun hobbies AND some new friends. It's always difficult starting out in a new place, where you don't know anyone. With your language barrier, you might feel that you can't make friends, because you won't understand them or they won't understand you. Why don't you post on Craigslist.com for your area for some female friends that speak your language......or go speak to your local parks a rec department head about TEACHING classes with your native language. You can also TAKE local clases with your park and rec department OR your local college campus. The thing is to get out and make friends, so you don't feel so isolated. And congratulations on your marriage. You found a rare treasure in love and I'm very happy for you. The rest will happen, just give it time...and get OUT of the house and find things that are fun for you.

Do you Belive that Elvis is still alive?

Do you Belive that Elvis is still alive?
1. ELVIS IS IN THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM Most people know about Elvis’ famous meeting with President Nixon. What they don’t know is that during this meeting Nixon issued Elvis Presley a DEA badge, a clue that Elvis was helping investigators with amajor case and later had to enter the federal witness protection program. It's ludicrous to believe that the DEA would have issued a badge to someone not working for them, even Elvis Presley. 2. ELVIS' NAME IS MISSPELLED ON HIS TOMB. Elvis’ father, Vernon, misspelled Elvis’ middle name on the grave—Aaron instead of Aron, as his mother named him. This is a sign that Vernon Presley knew that it was not his son in the tomb. 3. PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE CORPSE DON’T RESEMBLE ELVIS In 1977, the National Enquirer paid a third cousin of Elvis to smuggle a mini-camera in to the viewing of Elvis’ body. The resulting picture was published in the Enquirer, and caused shock waves among fans around the world. The eyebrows, chin, and fingers all looked unlike Elvis. 4. THE COFFIN WAS TOO HEAVY The coffin weighed 900 pounds: Elvis is known to have been overweight at the time of his death...but not that much. The only plausible account for that weight would be if the body was a wax dummy and there was an air conditioner inside the coffin to keep the wax dummy from melting. 5. COL. PARKER’S STRANGE QUOTE Col. Tom Parker, Elvis’ manager, said in a press conference shortly after Elvis’ death: ‘Elvis didn’t die.The body did. We’re keeping up the good spirits. We’re keeping Elvis alive. I talked to him this morning and he told me to 'carry on.’ Is it possible that there was a double entendre to those words: that they had literal truth to them that no one suspected at the time? 6. INCONSISTENCIES IN THE STORY The circumstances of death are described in conflicting ways. Witnesses disagree as to how the body was found and what Elvis was wearing, when the body was found, whether it was dead already, when death was declared, and whether AR was tried. 7. THE BOOK DID NOT EXIST THEN The book about the Shroud of Turin he is supposed to have been reading when he died was not published until a year later. 8. EVIDENCE THAT ELVIS WAS PLANNING ON THE END There seems to be evidence that Elvis was preparing for the end: —Why, for instance, did he order no new costumes for a new tour due to start on August 16th, 1977? —Why did he fire several old friends shortly before his death? —During his last tour he sang ‘Blue Christmas’ although it was summer: was he warning his fans? —Five months before hand, family members were suddenly cut out of his will. Did he realize he would need that money for his new life? 9. MYSTERIOUS FIGURE LEAVING MEMPHIS THE DAY AFTER On August 17th, 1977, one day after Elvis’ death, a ticket to Buenos Aires was bought at Memphis airport by a man looking like Elvis and using the name John Burrows, a code name Elvis frequently used when making hotel reservations for the Elvis entourage. 10. NEW ELVIS RECORDING EMERGES WITH SONGS FROM THE 90’S In 2002, an independent label released a CD entitled Kingtinued featuring Elvis’ voice singing at least fourteen well known songs which were not written and did not exist prior to August 16th, 1977. (See our current news item for more information!) Recently a new album called "KINGTINUED" was released by an independent label featuring a performer who sounds remarkably like Elvis. The credits on the CD list the singer as "The Voice of Elvis." Strange, right? Read on. In Las Vegas, KLAS-CBS News' special investigation unit performed computer voice print analysis that confirmed our suspicions: the voice is an exact matchfor the one and only Elvis Presley. Could the new CD be simply a collection of lost recordings never before released? This seems like a reasonable explanation. Except that many of the recordings on the CD are of recent well-known hits...tunes and lyrics not written until well after Elvis' alleged death in 1977! Here are just a few of the songs from the track list: Tears in Heaven, La Vida Loca, Sweet Home Alabama, Have I Told You Lately, Candle in the Wind (both the first version and the Princess Di version, England's Rose!). The producer of the record, Chrisopher Sheehan, has been totally unhelpful and less than forthright about the origins of these recordings. We are currently exploring what legal options exist that would force Mr. Sheehan to testify under oath. For their part, Elvis Presley Enterprises has tried to suppress this recording. So we are offering it for sale here. Hear it and decide for yourself. Complete Track List--- Disc One: La Vida Loca, Tears in Heaven, Smooth, Jump Jive & Wail, Graceland, England's Rose, How Do I Live, Can't Get Enough of Your Love, I Swear, Friends in Low Places, All My Ex's Live in Texas, Achy Breaky Heart Disc Two: Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Have I Told You Lately, Pink Cadillac, Statue of a Fool, You Light Up My Life, Freeway Free For All, Wind Beneath My Wings, Hush, Candle in the Wind, I Can Help, Mony Mony, Yesterday http://www.elvislives.net/ http://www.elvislives.net/pages/news.html Death Certificate. Elvis was very vain, and he was embarrassed about his recent weight gain - an astonishing 50 pounds in the month before his so-called death. Even though he weighed about 250 pounds at the time of his "death," his death certificate lists him at a spry 170 pounds. The original death certificate disappeared, and the current death certificate is dated two months after his alleged death. The Wax Body Theory. This argument is very convincing when the facts are considered. Elvis's coffin required several pall bearers because it weighed 900 pounds. Attendants of the funeral reported that the air around the coffin was rather cool. It is suspected that the coffin contained an air conditioning unit to keep a wax body cool - a wax body that was a replica of the King designed to fool funeral-goers. And how did the Presley family get a 900 pound, custom made coffin ready for a funeral that was held on the day after his death? It takes a lot of time to build such an ela elaborate coffin. And why have the funeral so quickly? Some speculate that the immediacy was intended to make it as difficult as possible for the people who were Elvis's biggest fans (heads of fan clubs, etc.) to attend the proceedings. It could be a concern that they might recognize the flaws in the wax replica. Elvis was an 8th degree black belt whose hands were rough with calluses, yet the body in the coffin had hands that were soft and pudgy. The body in the coffin had a pug nose and arched eyebrows (unlike Elvis) and most importantly, one of the sideburns on the "corpse" was loose and falling off. A hairdresser later reported gluing the sideburn back on the body. Two hours after Elvis's death was announced publicly, a man who reportedly looked remarkably like Elvis purchased a ticket for Buenos Aeries, paid in cash, and used the name John Burrows: the same name Elvis had used as an alias several times before. Elvis had a few books that were considered to be his most prized possessions. He had a bible, several pharmaceutical books, books on death, and most importantly Chiro's Book of Numbers and The Autobiography of Yogi which I will explain more about later. After Elvis's death was announced, these books disappeared and were never recovered. In the weeks preceding his alleged death, Elvis's actions were not those of a man who was about to embark on an extensive US tour. He ordered no new suits despite having gained 50 pounds since his last tour, and he bid "adios" at his last show in Hawaii. He had never done this before. Adios, like the French adieu, has the significance of being a final good-bye as opposed to an "I'll be seeing you on my next tour" kind of good-bye. Others were intrigued by the King's decision to sign a lucrative TV deal with NBC that would cover the tour. It was unprecedented for a network to pay such a large amount up front, in cash, for such a deal. Many wonder why Elvis even agreed to the deal since his vanity discouraged him from making public appearances due to his obesity. RCA showed uncanny (and unbelievable) foresight by mass producing millions of Elvis's current and previous recordings and merchandise. This is standard practice for an act that is about to go on tour, but the numbers in this case were beyond reasonable expectations. The announcement of Elvis's death caused record sales to skyrocket. Elvis did other unusual things that created suspicion. First, he fired several employees that he had relied upon for a long time. Also, two days before his alleged death, Elvis telephoned a friend of his named Miss Foster. He told her that he wasn't planning on going on the upcoming tour. She asked him if he had canceled it, and he said that he had not. When she asked if he was ill, he said that he was fine, and that she should not ask any more questions or tell anyone anything, and that she should not believe anything she read. He told her that his troubles would all soon be over, and that he would call her in a few weeks. The author of Elvis Where Are Y You? writes that Miss Foster took a polygraph test regarding this story, and that she was not lying. The day after Elvis's alleged death, a woman named Lucy De Barbon, a former lover of Elvis, received a single rose in the mail. The card indicated that the flower was from "El Lancelot." This had been her pet name for Elvis, and it was a name that no one else knew. Flowers can't be sent from beyond the grave. This was Elvis's way of letting her know that he was not dead, even though he didn't want to be found. Chiro's Book of Numbers. Elvis had a fascination with numerology - an interest he fed by reading Chiro's Book of Numbers. The theory that the King orchestrated his death is further supported when considering the significance of the date of his alleged death. The date in question is August 16,1977. By adding the numbers in the date, 8, 16, and 1977, you get 2001. This is the title of Elvis' favorite movie in which the hero plans his immortality in the bathroom. Elvis spent a considerable amount of time doing the same: planning his afterlife on the john. Elvis spent so much time in the bathroom that he had his toilet converted into a reclining comfy chair. Coincidentally, the bathroom is also where Elvis's body was reportedly found. Given Elvis's religious affiliation (Christianity), he had a fascination with things that come in threes i.e. father, son, and holy ghost. The sum of the digits from his favorite film (2+0+0+1) is three. Let's consider the triad of the repetition of the triad of the repetition of the number 24. 2001 (favorite film) less 1977 (year of death) is 24. The two numbers from the day of death (8/16) when added up equal 24. The sum of the digits in the year of death (1+9+7+7) also equals 24. That is 3 occurrences of the number 24 which is divisible by 3, and when divided by three the result, 8 has a perfect cubed root (2x2x2=8). Elvis loved numerology, and when you consider the numeric significance of the date of his alleged death, it is clear that if indeed he did plan to fake his death, he could not have chosen a better date. Elvis had many reasons to fake his death. Elvis's life was in danger. He had recently lost $10,000,000 in an airplane/real estate deal with a California based organization called the "Fraternity" that had links to the Mafia. It is speculated that he corroborated with the government to expose the organized crime ring in exchange for protection - perhaps in the form of a new life and identity compliments of the witness relocation program. In addition, Elvis was a prisoner of his own fame. He had many other reasons to leave his life behind. Because of his incredible popularity, he was the recipient of several death threats, and he was concerned about the safety of his wife and daughter. Sometimes when he wanted to leave Graceland, he would send out look-alikes to distract would be followers. Elvis was also known to ride in the trunk of someone else's car to avoid detection. Once, when he fell ill in Las Vegas, he couldn't get proper medical attention because the hospital was overwhelmed by fans. At the time of his alleged death, Elvis was nearing the end of his career. He was 42, his hair was graying, he was grossly overweight, and his voice was starting to weaken. He was going down hill, and he was too proud to go out with a whimper. He would never want his fans to see him in such an unhealthy condition. Elvis had shown a fascination with death on several occasions. In the days leading up to his alleged death he was reported to have visited funeral homes at odd hours of the night with close friends. Was he doing research? Elvis once faked his death by setting up an elaborate shooting in which a would be killer fired blanks at Elvis who had a blood pack which he discharged. It was Elvis's intention to see how the people closest to him would react to his death. Perhaps what he learned convinced him to do it for real. Finally, one of Elvis' favorite books is the spiritual Autobiography of Yogi. One of the central themes of this book is the relinquishing of one's wealth and earthly possessions to achieve spiritual oneness. Elvis could do this, as well as address his other concerns of sanity and safety by faking his death and living in exile. Means. Elvis had the means to fake his own death. He is accused of destroying himself with drugs. In reality, Elvis was a pharmaceutical expert. He took a lot of drugs, but he knew what he was doing and was extremely careful. He knew what drugs he could self-administer to create a deathlike state. Further, Elvis's experience with the martial arts was such that he could slow his heart rate and breathing in order to feign death. Elvis's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, had once created a new identity for himself. He came to this county as an illegal immigrant from Holland, but through various connections managed to create an elaborate identity complete with a passport, birth certificate, drivers license, and social security number. He would have known how to give Elvis a second life. In addition to Elvis's ties to the government through his testimony against the Fraternity, Elvis was known to interact with the President of the United States. He was reported in government documents to use the name John Burrows as an alias when he wanted to travel. Some people believe that Elvis worked for the government as a drug agent. He did, after all have extensive contact with many people in the music business who, as we know, tend to dabble in illegal substances. (Remember Payola?.. ) And, of course, we must allow that Elvis's connections to the government gave him access to the Witness Relocation Program. If they can turn the Simpsons into the Thompsons, they can relocate anybody. Many believe that Elvis couldn't have given up performing cold turkey. I imagine that after a while the desire to perform grew once he started his life in exile. The story of Orion supports the theory that Elvis attempted an incognito comeback. Shortly after Elvis's death, a masked singer by the name of Orion emerged on the scene. He was big like Elvis, and he sang just like Elvis. Because of the mask, no one could tell his true identity. One fan described seeing Orion from near the stage. She claims that Orion left the stage between songs, and when he appeared moments later the sweat was gone from his armpits and back and she thought that his costume looked slightly different. After the song he left the stage, and the original Orion returned. Another fan described how she rushed into a tour bus at an Orion show only to see two Orions in the back of the bus. She claimed that one ducked into the bathroom before she could get a good look at him, but he appeared to look like Elvis Presley. What's even more remarkable is the fictional story called Orion that was written by Gail Brewer-Georgio about a legendary performer who had several identities and wanted to fake his death. The story was written and submitted to the William Morris Agency for publication consideration after Elvis's death and before the real Orion ever performed. As it turns out, there are many ways in which the real Orion mimicked the events as described in the book. For example, the performers' managers had the same name. Also, without knowing it, Brewer-Georgio wrote of events in Orion that had actually taken place in Elvis Presley's life. It was a case of life imitating art. In 1981, 20/20 did an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged death of Elvis Presley. The investigative report was very convincing. Oddly enough, within two weeks of the report, the singer, Orion, disappeared and was never heard from again. The book, Orion disappeared from shelves across the country. It had been recalled by the publisher which was associated with the William Morris Agency. Incidentally, the William Morris Agency is the same agency that represented Elvis Presley. I even tried to order a copy of the book, but was unable to. The woman at the book store said she couldn't tell me why....... It seems that Elvis Presley is worth more dead than alive. By faking his death and relocating with a new identity, he is safe from his fans and the Fraternity, the government can make a solid case against the organized crime ring, and RCA, Elvis's family, and Elvis's management can all reap immense financial benefits from the attention. That is... No one has collected on his life insurance policy. Stop ripping on me... I Think he Croked along time ago I was just wondering what you thought of this crap. I copied this off a website

What do you think about the third world?

What do you think about the third world?
I live in a third world country (Argentina) and I'm really ashamed of it. I want to know what thinks the people who had the luck of born in a normal country. Maybe you complain a little bit of your country, maybe because is having a bad moment. In my third world damm country not one single police man is honest, all are corrupt, there's not one single job well paid, the politicians are all corrupt but when I say all I mean ALL; they eat all the budget money, they don't do anything for the country and always makes falsies promises. To the worker man they discount 220$ of his salary for the homeless and the divorced mothers, the "homeless" get drunk with the money of the govt and rape or abuse or the kids. If in the USA are 20% of unemployment, here in Argentina there is like 60% of unemployment, almost all the country is poor, there only one country capital, is Buenos Aires (where I live) and is like a factory of murderers, drug addicts and thieves. Only the 20% of the province is the capital of the country, the rest is countryside. The economy is worst than crap, is awful, 1 dollar is 4 pesos. The criminality rate is like 80%, the people confused "democracy and liberty" with debauchery, they do whatever they want to and know one do anything about it. The criminals have a revolving door, they get in and out of the jail, just like that. The minors can rob a store and the police can't do anything about it because it doesn't exist any laws to punish them and no one want to do something about it. And a lot of stuff more and worst. Believe me when I say is not a good place to live, if you come here to live a couple of months you will return running to your country. If right now america is having a rough situation you better not complain, because once more you don't know what you have.

Human nature is the same the world over. In a country where more people have more, you merely have more people who despise the poor. It always seems better somewhere else. Here's a little story to illustrate my point: When the great Buddhist teacher Atisha was going to Tibet, he was told the people of Tibet were very good-natured, earthy, flexible, and open. He decided they wouldn't be irritating enough give him the opportunity to practice patience (a big Buddhist virtue), so he brought along with him a mean-tempered, ornery Bengali tea boy. The Tibetans like to tell the story that, when he got to Tibet, he realized that he need not have brought his tea boy.

I lived in El Salvador until I was 18. I was blessed to have a green card by then. I moved to America. I can't complaint. But I worry about my family in the third world because they're facing the similar problems to the ones in your country: vandalism from gangs, underpaid jobs and high cost of living, etc. Since I made friends there, and most importantly, I have family there, I'm not indifferent. I pray for them. I'm not in a position to help them financially... but what worries me is that they might just call one day to tell me they were victims of criminals and what not.

I wasn't aware things were that bad. Had friends from Buenos Aires when I was in high school many years ago, and they said it was poor and unstable, but didn't give any details. I guess things have gotten worse in 50 years. I keep telling people in the US that socialism is much preferable to the anarchy they want and call freedom, and deregulation. Good luck, I wish you well.

Is the end of May a good time to travel to Iguazu Falls?

Is the end of May a good time to travel to Iguazu Falls?
I have already booked a ticket to fly into Rio de Janeiro on May 21st. I will be in South America for more than two weeks, and will at some point before May 29th be flying into Buenos Aires. I was hoping to visit Iguazu falls in between. My idea was to go May 24 till May 26th, coming in the morning, and leaving in the evening. Will it be worth all the time, money and travel? Is the end of May a good time to see the waterfalls? Or can I expect so little water discharge it will be likely to feel like a disappointing waste? I have not booked tickets from Rio to Foz de Iguacu, nor tickets from Puerto Iguazu to Buenos Aires - although I plan to asap. Some advice would help in making a final decision, so please help! Thanks in advance.

It would be cooler than in summer; concerning the water discharge, it is all the time very fluent river, and the scenery rivals any other falls in the world. My belief is that it would be a worth trip to go. The scenery pays itself. Hope this helped.

May is fine and it should be an enjoyable trip. 2 days are absolutelty enough, I was there 3 days and didnt know what to do with the last day. One day on the brazilian side, one day on the argentine side and you've seen it all. Personally I think the argentine side is much better and should be prioritized if you run out of time. Dont miss out on the boat ride through the falls that is offered on the argentine side! I've travelled to many countries and Iguazu remains one of the most impressive highlights i've seen up to this point, so i'd say its going to be worth whatever the flights/hotel will cost you. Also I'd rather book a hotel in Puerto Iguazu than in Foz, it is much nicer and laid back. Just a small, relaxed town with plenty of good and affordable restaurants! For getting to Foz do Iguazu I can recommend GOL they have fairly inexpensive flights to Foz from Rio (i paid about 65euros one way) and you earn American Airlines miles as well. Their flights often dont show up in search engines like expedia though, so you might have to book it directly on their site (www.voegol.com.br). For getting to Argentina you'd probably want to cross the border by taxi/bus and take a flight from Puerto Iguazu to BA - more expensive though (approx. 110euros one way with LAN or Aerolineas Ar). An overnight Bus is also a viable option it costs half of the flight and is very comfy (180 degree reclining seat-bed with bord service, kinda like business class on longhaul flights).

Where would you rather go......??

Where would you rather go......??
Buenos Aires, Argentina or Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic? I have to decide where to study abroad this summer for a month and I've gone back and forth and can't decide!! I would be going for the month of may and in Argentina I would stay with a host family and a hotel in Danto Domingo. I love experiencing new cultures, safety is a major concern of mine, I don't want to be too cold the whole time, and I don't want to be spending tons of money. In Argentina I would be studying globalization, environmental constraints, politics and economics and in the Dominican I would be studying the impacts of tourism on population growth and movement. I am hoping that someone with knowledge of the countries could offer me some insight into these two places to help me make my decision. Thanks so much!!

I've been to Peru and Ecuador. I assume Argentina is similar. I'd call them "developing countries." I've been to the Dominican Republic. I consider it "third world." More crime, less culture. I'd vote for Argentina, based on my feelings about the country's safety, its culture, and I think the program of study sounds more interesting. Also, staying with a host family is a major plus in terms of safety and also learning the culture. So I give a very strong vote for Argentina.

I'd pick Argentina, and especially Buenos Aires. I've seen it on tv, and it's a beautiful city with a lot of cultural things going for it. It's on my list of places I hope to see. It seemed very European, in a way. I'm intrigued. Argentina had some civil unrest in past years, but that seems to have passed, and the country seems fairly peaceful. The Dominican Republic has its troubles. I know it's better now - a lot of my Dominican friends tell me it's gotten a lot better, a lot safer - but I'm still not feeling the love on that one. I'd be concerned about safety. Civil unrest is not all that unusual there, and seems to be increasing. In addition to asking here, check out the listings for both countries on the Lonely Planet website, and in the guidebooks for young people that you can get in the bookstore: Time Out, and the Rough Guides are good. The Lonely Planet and Rough Guides tend to be quite frank re: safety and etc. In addition, the Lonely Planet website has a forum where you can look up old questions and ask your own. It may be a good resource for you, as you try to make this decision.

hey! im a dominican, and i've lived here all my life. The thing here is that the country is too corrupted and yes, crime is everywhere...is getting better, though...here you r deffinately NOT going to frezze, and it depends where u r staying in Argentina... public education here sucks, as i said, the country is wayyyy too corrupted. Everybody treats foreing people suuuuuuuper well, because we r a turistic nation, we feed on turist! (not literaly! XD) If ur going to a private college, like APEC you'll like it better. The public university though, is the FIRST one in america, i mean of the whole continent (proud of that!), so it has aaaa lot of history...but, there is way too many people, and, i hate to say it, dominicans are not the most educated people in the world, but hey! thats how we r!! also, if u r studing turism here, you'll be on the right place, cause turism is what is keeping this country up, and like, produces 75% of our income! Really, there are thousands of hotels, all the kinds, people from all over the globe. Also, you will be coming to the first colony in America, where Christopher Colombus set his hub for the expansion of Spain through the continent. There is not a country with more history and mixture of cultures in its folclore than us in America! we have the first hospital, the first cathedral, university, city, colony, CC house, street, etc... When my cousins come from the states, they love it here! "i wish i could live here!" and stuff, but hey! The ones who live here are desperate to get out...that's why im keeping a 4.0 GPA, so i can get a schoolarship and get out of here for at least 4 years! i think you would like it here, i mean, if it was more time, i wouldn't recomend it, the difference in culture and traditions, is toooooo big, but, for a month, i think it will be very insightful. Globalization you can study everywhere, but nothing better than to study in a hub of turism like in the DR!! There is not a country that looks more like Europe than us, since it was built by the spanish, most of it!! If u come, make sure u visist the colonial zone!! is wonderful at night, but if ur giong at night, make sure u are NOT alone, cause it is dangerous. Go in the day so u can take a tour! is soooooooo wonderful, is my fav place! if u can, go to Santiago to the Centro Leon! Is my favorite museum! It has all dominican history and culture in one building! The powerpoint presentation at the begining, almost makes me cry! is sooooo crazy gorgeous! there are tons of bargains in the colonial zone, in the street called "el conde", so u r not going to spend much! a dollar is 33 dominican pesos, so, do the math!! To resume, there is crime here, but if u are careful, you will be fine, i mean, crime is everywhere! you will love the summer heat, all visitors do! you'll leave with the hottest tan ever! you are going to learn so many things because you r going to live in a country that is devoted to serve their turists! i think u r even gonna learn some politics because that is always the topic of conversation here...trust me, u are going to understand what a third world country is, and that people here is not really miserable as people may think, but rather we learn to cope and be happy! i love my country, but like u, i want to expand my education and live in other type of place for a while...i would highly recomend u to come here! im sure you are going to love it! g.luck! check it out! http://www.dominicana.com/ http://www.dominicanrepublic.com/

Any leather/fabric experts out there?

Any leather/fabric experts out there?
Hi, I've fallen in love with a particular leather jacket but want to be sure as to the quality of the lining and what not itself as it is not only my first leather jacket purchase but is also just under $700. The brand name is Doma which is based in Buenos Aires. Now, I have read that the best leather is made of lambskin and I do plan on asking what kind this is made of but I want to give the details here as the main concern atm is the actual lining of the jacket. I'm confused b/c although this jacket has a detachable hood w/minimal lining, it states that the liner of this jacket is made of two fabrics. I don't understand what this means. Here are the specs: Color - Black Shell: 100% leather Contrast: 100% cotton Lining: 100% poly Lining 2: 100% acetate Zip front Zip pockets Zippered sleeves Detachable hood I am assuming the "shell" means the exterior but can anyone explain why they say lining and then lining 2? I'm figuring that the cotton contrast is based on the detachable hood; correct me if I'm wrong. Also, I have been told that some linings tend to make people sweat under their coats.. I know this has happened to me although I never did know what the actual fabric was. Are these liner fabrics good? Does this info seem to represent something worth the money? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated as I so badly want to purchase this jacket but don't want to drop the money if it's not worth it. Anyone who knows about leather and other fabrics and perhaps even the designer brand, Doma, please help me out. Thanks! * Just want to add, although I do love feedback on where I can find stuff cheaper (please keep 'em coming), I am dead set on this particular leather jacket as long as the fabrics are what they should be. I know the cost is mostly going to the brand name, I just don't want that to be all it goes to. Also, how do I reply to answers people add here? I'm new at this. **In Response To Linda S. Thank you so much for the information. I am going to attach the link to the jacket I am looking at although it unfortunately does not show the interior in any of the pictures. Either way, perhaps this will help you. http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?product=DOMA-WO19&c=DOMA ***Thank you again Linda! You've been of so much help to me. And I'm really really happy you love it just as much as I do because my boyfriend almost strangled me when he realized how much I was spending on it (haha). I have just one more question and that is, why do some liners make people sweat as others do not? I was originally thinking of keeping the cost down by buying a fake leather bomber, (I believe faux leather is called pleather?), but was warned against it as the person I was shopping with told me she knew that the particular coat I had in mind was made of materials that cause sweating. I know I once had a nice (but cheap) wool coat that had some sort of silky-ish lining and for some reason, whenever I wore it, I noticed that I sweat. I thought this was just a personal issue until my friend had mentioned it in the store. Any ideas? Btw, I would close this question by obviously marking your response as the Best Answer, which it definitely is, (I posted this same quest

Without pictures I'm just guessing. But in most cases: contrast will be the visible lining, such as the hood. Since you state that the hood is plaind then you are correct, the cotton fabric is the hood. Polyester and acetate are both commn lining materials and both will effectively line a coat so it is easy to slip on and off and to allow a range of movement in the coat. Leather can "catch" or "bind" when unlined and that catching can limit your range of movement. That's why linings are always made of slightly slippery fabrics so they don't catch on the fabric underneath. The reason for two different linings is that sleeves sometimes need less friction, especially if the sleeve is fitted. Additionally, the sleeves don't need as much insulation, so a lighter, more slippery fabric will be used. Linings do add a bit more warmth, but for most people a little warmth is a good thing, especially for those who live in cold climates. The two lining fabrics you have listed have only slight insulating qualities, the leather itself will probably be warmer that the lining, Again, as i said, without seeing the coat it's hard to tell. I'm going by my experience in making and repairing leather coats. You can't really reply direct, but you can add more to your questions in the Additional Details field and I can add a response by editing my answer.. Once you pick a best answer you can't add details and I can no longer edit my answer so no more interaction is possible. When a best answer is picked you can add brief comments, but there's no way to anyone to track comments. Edit: Thanks! Nice jacket! I like it. I actually found a similar DOMA jacket while xmas shopping, very nice and the picture doesn't show how soft and supple and luxurious leather feels. It's like a leather hug! And i found the corporate site too. It's as I said, two different linings are used to serve two different functions. You won't notice any difference in the fabrics when wearing the jacket. You'll just notice you have a very nice high fashion luxury leather jacket
