Your opinion: Should Texas pass Arizona-type laws to thwart the alien menace?
Local open borders advocates sprang to action this month when lawmakers in Austin began to introduce legislation to consider in the coming year. Equal Voice Network, which consists of 10 social advocacy groups, is mobilizing to get local government, business and other entities to oppose state bills that they say are anti-immigrant, racist and harmful to the Rio Grande Valley. Several bills recently introduced in the Texas Legislature deal with immigration. One would make being in the U.S. illegally an act of criminal trespass. Some would require police to check the immigration status of people arrested or detained, like legislation implemented in Arizona. One would require public schools to keep track of alien children. Some would prohibit governments from using public money to print information in a language other than English. Others would deny state money to so-called sanctuary cities where immigration law is not fully enforced. “With the urgency that legislators immediately began introducing anti-immigrant bills, we realized we needed to act with urgency,” said Neha Singhal, coordinator of special programs for La Union del Pueblo Entero, a San Juan-based immigrant advocacy group that works with Equal Voice. LUPE and Equal Voice met Monday to begin forming a coalition to fight the bills. Some 35 to 40 people attended, representing business, agricultural, educational, social and governmental entities. The group intends to push organizations to draft resolutions opposing passage of select bills. In early January, it plans to have a rally on the steps of the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle-National Shrine, 400 N. Virgen de San Juan Blvd., San Juan. Members expect to be joined by several thousand volunteers as they then take the resolutions to the state capital while key bills are in committee. “In Austin, 2,000 people can match those guys’ lobbyists,” said Michael Seifert, coordinator of the Equal Voice Network, referring to the bills’ advocates. Equal Voice has identified 34 bills it regards as harmful or at least as cause for concern. Discussions are under way regarding which of them should be top targets for derailing. On Tuesday, the San Juan City Commission approved a resolution condemning legislation that would require law enforcement to question a person’s immigration status. Commissioner Armando Garza, who is also a member of Equal Voice, introduced the measure. He said a state senator and representative had contacted him to seek assistance in opposing the new bills. Alton, Brownsville, Cameron County and Hidalgo County have passed similar resolutions. Local advocates for immigrants said their concerns about the new bills extend beyond the sphere of social justice. They also fear the measures would hurt the Valley’s economy by harming business relations with Mexico. The issue is of crucial importance, and they are readying for a fight, they said.

I support any of these border states that are highly affected by illegal immigration in passing laws that would protect their citizens against illegal immigrants. And no, I have never, will never and don't know anyone that gives a damn what "LUPE", the Equal Voice Network, or any of these other anti-American racist open border groups think.

yes every state should.. and if they want to earn citizen ship they should file for it .. and have to work off a $20,000 fine for entering the country illegally and have work on getting a drivers license, SS#, and learn to speak english if they don't know it. so they can still pick strawberries, and fruit if they want .. there just have to pay taxes like everyone else.

Americans are being hurt by illegals in this country , are jobs are affected , are hard earned American money is being used for these illegals , they always accuse the police for mistreating them and they break any law they choose and get away with it , my question is how are Americans treated in Mexico ,NOT GOOD there are Americans that have invested in Mexico business and had there business taken away and told to get out with force and truck drivers that are Americans are help up sometimes for days while the Mexican border parol lets the Mexicans go right by , SO WHY NOT GIVE AMERICANS the saftey and rights to be safe and I say EQUAL RIGHTS FOR AMERICANS BY AMERICANS and any idiot that is American that supports Mexicans to have special rights and I mean special rights should also check out the Americans abused by these people in America and in Mexico .
4 :
I say all states across the nation should pass like laws to Arizona's. Leaving the illegals with no place to go except back to their own countries. At least Canada has the balls to have all their constables inquiring about peoples legal status in their country. If they can't provide legal documents, they are deported. Something this country should learn from.
5 :
Texas, and every other state should pass these laws - if our Federal Government will not uphold the laws of the United States, it is up to the individual states to step in where the Federal Government has failed. Calling these measures "anti-immigration" and "racist" has been proven over and over again to be ignorant, inflammatory propaganda meant further these illegal and harmful agendas. America had better wake up and get smart, or we will soon be just another 3rd world country with internal wars and local dictators, just like Mexico - only we will have some very powerful enemies who want nothing more than to simply kill Americans.

You have to be 14 at the time of hire. You will need a work permit that you can get from the school. Most cities have a lot of summer jobs for teens. Good Luck.
2 :
Here is more info on work permits: California law requires any student under the age of 18 to obtain a work permit. The hours a student may work vary according to age. 15 years and under: When school is not in session, they may work no more than 8 hours on any day and 40 hours a week maximum. Cruise Questions... How much money should I bring, clothes, etc?

Cruise Questions... How much money should I bring, clothes, etc?
Ok here goes a few questions... I have never been on a cruise before and want to make sure i'm prepared so that I can just have fun on the cruise and not have to worry about anything... I'm 21 and going on a 9 day Princess Cruise to the Eastern Caribbean (Grand Turk, San Juan, St.Thomas and Bermuda.) I would like to know how much money I should expect to spend on and off the ship so I can have enough on my debit card and not worry about overdrawing my account. I do plan to drink a decent bit (and go to Margaritaville) and do some of the more expensive shore excursions such as Snuba diving. Also, if anyone knows from experience is there better snorkeling in San Juan or Bermuda? I'm also a horrible packer and try to bring everything I own on vacation which i'm sure won't fly on a cruise, so what should I pack? And is there anything else you would suggest I bring, do or just generally should know? Thanks!

If you can get to Trunk bay in St Thomas, that is the place to snorkel. Money wise, I would figure at least $1,000 for drinking, extras, tips, and a few shore excursions. That is per person. For this cruise(I have been on a similar cruise with Princess), bring only summer clothes like sandals, shorts, t shirts and tank tops, swim wear, flip flops, a hat and plenty of sun screen. For dinner wear sun dresses or cool slacks. Bring 1 pair of walking shoes too. Oh, be sure to call your bank to let them know you will be out of the USA. That way your debt card will not send up a bunch of red flags to the bank. p.s., Margaritaville is a lot of fun and they have neat souvenirs.

I hear you need at least $100 a day when cruising, so I would say $900. You don't have to spend it all, but with tips, light gambling, alcohol, shopping, excursions etc. I think that would be a good starting number. I'm sure it would be easy to go way over that if you are not careful, but also very possible to stay well under it if you are.

There is a saying.... Layout everything you've packed (including money) out on your bed. Leave half your stuff and take twice the money. Most people over pack. Also, I don't remember Princess having a baggage limit, I mean they aren't as strict as airlines, Just pack one large suitcase and a carry-on and of course extra bags for souvenirs.

For me personally I bring next to no day clothing. I already know I'm going to be in a bathing suit every day so I bring several bathing suits and coverups. I bring usually one tshirt in case I get sunburned. You are expected to be covered inside the ship. I absolutely love the stretchy top sundress/ coverups right now. I have several of them. I also have a terry cloth halter dress. That is seriously all my day wear. If you are a gym rat, carry a pair of shorts and tennis shoes to work out in. For night time, lay out your stuff ahead of time. One dress for every night, a couple formal. Perhaps one replacement dress, in case you don't like that choice that night or need a dress with a bit more room in the waist. So 10 outfits for dinner. If you lay it all out at one time you are less likely to overpack. Shore excursions range all over the board but I've discovered a good budget is $100 per shore excursion. Snuba is right about that as well. My husband LOVED snuba! It was his favorite excursion. If you do a hike in the rain forest in PR, bring a ziplock bag. Our clothing smelled so bad after that. We left it out on the deck to dry but wow--it reeked. I had to wash my shirt 3 times before I could wear it again. You won't want that going back in your luggage. Now on to money. So plan on roughly $100 per person for the hotel tips that are automatically added to your credit card. They charge you per pay and on my last cruise it was $11 per day. $100 per shore excursion per person. I probably wouldn't do a shore excursion at St Thomas b/c that's where all your shopping will be and it's got so much to do right at the port. Walking through Charlotte Amalie is amazing. I usually buy some jewelry down there since it's so cheap but it really depends on what you are planning to buy. My husband and I usually spend about $100 on liquor to bring back--especially Cruzan rum which is one of our favorites. It's hard to guess how much you will buy at each port but St Thomas will be the place you'll shop. The only place to shop at Grand Turks is Margaritaville. Then alcohol. Cruise ships usually mix some strong drinks. They offer drink specials too that can often help you out by saving several bucks. On Carnival, the drink special is about $2 off if you bring your souvenir glass around. I usually drink about 2 drinks a day and my husband and I get a bottle of wine at dinner. On a 7 day, that's roughly a $400 bill. So for you by yourself, I would think if you set aside $200-300 you'd be fine. If you own snorkel gear, I'd pack your own snorkel gear. Also pack your own aloe vera and if you get motion sick, medicine. They have it on ship but the markup is outrageous. For going snorkeling/snuba, get a water camera from the drug store before you leave. But really if you want some great pictures check out this bag. http://cgi.ebay.com/DiCAPac-Camera-Water-Dust-Snow-Proof-Case-UV-Bag-WP510_W0QQitemZ180360733473QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item29fe566321&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 My husband got one of these and it worked great. No water got into the camera at all and that way we were able to get some good clear pictures no the kinda blue tinged pictures the underwater cameras tend to give you. So I'd say you can do it on $800 for the 9 days. That gives you 100 for tips, 300 for shore excursions, 100 for shopping and 300 alcohol budget. You may want to allow yourself an extra 100 for the spa and if you want to buy jewelry, 100 for shopping won't be enough. Though since you already know you want to go to Margaritaville you could save money but not doing a shore excursion there. We just got off our last cruise in April and went to Grand Turks. Wasting the day in Margaritaville was what made Grand Turks one of my favorite stops. Margaritaville was awesome.

How to make it look like we bought this xbox new?

How to make it look like we bought this xbox new?

The truth is that you can make it look new but it won't function like it's new. What I mean is that when you first turn on an Xbox 360 there is a video that automatically plays that shows you how it works and stuff. You cannot reset a hard drive to it's factory settings so, if he catches that, the whole faking like it's new thing will be ruined. As for making it look new, you really can't make it look new if you don't have the inside packaging in tact meaning that you need all the little plastic bags that everything came with. Good luck and that's an awesome birthday gift!

an xbox is an xbox I wouldn't care if mine didn't look new as long as it works I'm sure they will love it.

Just put it in a box, and wrap it. It's a gift, who cares where you got it? Who cares what it looks like? If it works, it's a good gift. The fact that it's not brand new and in the box doesn't make it a bad gift--it would be a bad gift if the recipient discovered you were trying to mislead them. ~Scottie
