Everyone wants to move to the U S, am I the only one that wants to get out?
I have traveled to countries like Peru and Argentina and the lifestyle is more healthy and people are more happy I don't know when it happened but over the years this country has become sick, I mean the people of the United states are sick,, mentally and spiritually, so it might be easier to make a few bucks here, what do you get with the money, maybe a nice house with a bunch of stuff you don't need and with a ton af garbage to the to throw away every week, everytime I come home afetr being on buisness somewhere I get smacked in the face with how cray and sad our society has become, can anyone else realte to this, it is hard for me to put into words I think American people are good and hard working but I just think the enviroment has become jaded and twisted, it seems to get worse and worse everybody at everybodies throat here nki, everyone in poverty does, i know you kiwis mostly don't

So go.

Bye then...don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

I'm sure there are a handful of you out there. Guess what? The wonderful thing about America is that no one will try to keep you here. You can apply to immigration in any other country and if they will take you, you can be on your way. OR you can just complain and cry with no actual intention of going anywhere, because you KNOW that you couldn't stand it elsewhere no matter what you say and you are just full of hot air -- like Alec Baldwin. Good luck and God speed, whichever type you are.

You have to take the good with the bad, sure we have some in society that may be selfish and spiritually void, but that's the price you pay for having a democratic and free country. I get frustrated sometimes by what we as a country are doing, but the beauty of this country is that I can help change that.

I feel your pain, certainly. I was born in Cuba...and don't get me wrong... I love the fact that we came to this country because I have seen and learned things that I probably wouldn't have if I had stayed in Cuba, but still I know what you mean...I lived in Chile for almost two years and everything was more laid back there, I guess here many issues are coming up now, the Iraq War has messed up the country and like you said, we live in constant stress about bills money, taxes...it's really a lot. I'm not saying I would like to leave the States, cause honestly I rather be here than in Cuba but I do sympathize with you.
9 :
This country is a joke. I'll be on the plane with you too!!

I am Peruvian now living in the United States. While i agree with you that life in Peru ( never been to any other country) is much much simpler and people are happy with what little they have (unlike here), finding jobs is really hard, very competitive, and you cant really choose any career you want ( you can but you have to check how its doing in the job market). thats why people want to move to the US, more opportunity.
11 :
I agree with much of what you say. The solution is to accept that you will feel a certain amount of alienation if you try to buck the system. Better to feel a bit alienated though than to accept all the junk thrown at us daily from the media and the government. It's good that you are questioning your life and I hope you find good answers and have some happiness in this life.

America is the land of Dreams to the improvished... A few more bucks may mean nothing to the privlaged people born and naturalized here.. but for some one who is from a third world country-- It is a privalge to be in the USA.... So If you leave may be you should open a spot for some one who will cherish this nation and give it their all to make it even better then it already is
13 :
Ha - really - everyone WANTS to move to the USA? cant say i know a single person who does!
14 :
Perception is always the truth for an individual, so maybe it's time for you to go and give it a try. But remember this, traveling in another country and actually living in that country are very, very, different. Me, I've lived in another country, and have come back because I realize the USA is a very good place to live. Much better than where I was.
15 :
At the present , there are some thousands of American citizens living abroad. Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama are some destinations.

I do understand what you mean. I was born and raised in America but I have lived all over the world because my dad is in the air force. When I lived in the Azores Islands of Portugal, I could not believe the difference between there and America. In the Azores, everything was quiet and everyone was so laid back. There were no malls, huge shopping centers, skyscraping cities, traffic, etc. Walking and donkies were the main mode of transportation. People bought their food fresh at the market and got their household items from those who specifically made those items.... there was a bread lady, a basket man, a seamstress, etc. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The Azoreans were not concerned with money, houses, and material things. Everytime I would come back to America, I would have culture shock from all of the noise, traffic, go-go-go attitude and impatience. Even visiting Italy and Australia.. there is such a different pace of life and is much less stressful than here at home. I love the European way of life... they work to live rather than live to work like we do here. But, living overseas I did miss the many things I'm so used to here such as movie theaters, grocery stores, walmart, etc... I love America and feel blessed to have been able to experience many of the other countries of the world.
17 :
why do these die hard americans think america is the absolute only great place in the entire world you are all a bunch of puppets im down to get out of here our government is full of terriorist the only thing with leaving is what if they come and ruin the country you move to..a very possible thing
18 :
Than don't let us stop you go ahead and move.... And good luck on you adventure....

As one American to another I think the USA is the greatest nation on this planet! I lived in the USA for over 40 some years but have been living in Central America ( Guatemala) for over ten years. People here are friendly. In the USA even my relatives treat me like "who are you"! Move south my advice! Health insurance alone is worth the move. Less cost and more coverage and better doctors! More attention to the client! No you are not the only one! Most people here do not have an opportunity for a job and that is why they are willing to accept less in wages for work that most Americans refuse to do! I say legalize all the immigrants that do not have proper documents. Make them pay their taxes just like all Americans are forced to pay. Take everyone off the welfare roles and put them back to work to lessen the burden on those that are forced to pay for them. Democrats need to vote Republican to insure that the USA survives another four years!

Nobodies trying to stop you...

If you aren't going to go ahead and decide to relocate, why not try seeing things with new eyes. Pretend that you wanted to come here like the people you spoke of and try to look at the states in a new light. I would say either relocate physically or adjust your attitude.
22 :
you could go move to buenes aires. i saw the movie starship trooper, and all the white american kids were from buenes aires. so, maybe someday your grandkids could get on a spaceship and fight bugs in english. you just want to get out because too many have come in and messed up the place. i'm pretty sure you can easily walk into mehico, then life would be simple. you could hit pinatas and play with a ball in a cup.

I've been to Peru too!!! It's wonderful, especially Machu Picchu! Beautiful country, unfortunately poor. I've been to other countries as well (Venezuela, Italy, Mexico, Germany) and you are absolutely right. Even though the quality of life is not as good in the US (materialistic speaking) people there seem to be happier...it's just unbelievable that with all the limitations they have they can enjoy life better. I think the US used to be like that long time ago, at least for my grandma's stories I can tell it was. I'm afraid we don't have a way out of this hunger of money and power :( When I retire I want to go to the Caribbean and have a nice house on the beach down there, unless we take back the values under this nation was set.
24 :
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! I'm sick of horrible taxes, budget cuts, and the fact that kids like me and their families have to suffer with corruption and bribes. If a republican gets elected, then we are most likely gonna run like hell.
25 :
Contrary to popular opinion not "everyone" wants to come to the US. I saw one bit of data that showed in the first immigration wave of the early 20th century a VERY large percentage of immigrants went back to their home country. Many that come now find we are the land of chances and opportunity, not guaranteed riches and happiness. But this comes at a price. Ambition requires giving up that laid-back style. We are a nation of movers and shakers precisely because we are go, go, go. You will also find thousands upon thousands of American ex-pats spread all over the world. But be aware the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. "Travelling" places and living there are two ENTIRELY different things. Much of your unhappiness comes from within yourself. Have you noticed the massive poverty and corruption in Peru and Argentina? Here are a couple of posts to peruse: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47139-2003Jan26.html http://gvnet.com/childprostitution/Argentina.htm http://www.tejastango.com/argentina_economy.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47139-2003Jan26.html http://www.cambridge.org/us/catalogue/catalogue.asp?isbn=9780521694117&ss=exc How will you make your way there? Can you get a legal job? Start a business?

mr sgt your an idiot. ive read your comments and you being racist towards mexicans just sickens me. read the bible and find out who god is and get a life instead of talking trash about mexicans on the internet all day. Rednecks are worse than any other people in the world anyway

There's no such thing as a perfect country unfortunately, and wherever you go there will be challenges...but it sounds like New Zealand would be a place you would enjoy moving to, as they are into lifestyle, health and people!
28 :
i coulnd't agree more. America in my eyes is a falling power and is becoming exactly what our forefathers did NOT want. This place makes me sick. the people are disgusting and the only important thing in america is money. I too have traveled and i see so many countries that are beautiful and everyone seems so friendly. I would not mind living in a different country
29 :
I dream of leaving but it's too expensive and not so easy to do. I'd love to go to a nice European city without all the bs!
30 :
The move the hell out of MY country. Canada might take you. Or move to South America - maybe even Venezuela! I'm sure Hugo would LOVE you as his poster child for a disenchanged US citizen!! Just remember NOT to harshly criticize the government of whatever country you eventually move to, or you might end up on the wrong end of a death squad.

Yea i feel for ya, in fact i'm saving up a friend and i are going to china to a buddhist monastery or something like that...point is i have been to peru a couple times. i love it, especially the jungle. ecuador is a very sweet place to be as well, and the health benefits from three months of volunteering in the rainforest can't be described in words. so no, you aren't the only one who wants to leave this corrupted government. but i also want to fix it. oh mann i feel we're so screwed sometimes...
32 :
We DO know how you FEEL to some extent. Have you thought about altering your lifestyle before you "jump ship"? Before my wife and I retired, we spoke about the "rat race", traffic and pollution, and how so many of us "live to work" instead of "working to live", and how our possesions seemed to be a "mill stone" around our necks. We love America and knew there is a lot of beauty and good out there, so we decided to go find it. We sold the house, gave away the furniture and a lot more. We bought a used travel trailer and pickup truck. We have been "living on the road" seeing the country for 10 years now and love it! We tell people, "We don't have Real Estate, we have Wheel Estate"! If we don't like the weather, the neighbors, or get tired of the scenery, we move! Now, before all you "ecconuts" get your bowels in an uproar about our lifestyle, let me clue you in on a few FACTS. We don't move around constantly sucking up fuel while polluting our air. We stay in each place up to as long as 6 months at a time. Our "carbon footprint" is smaller, MUCH SMALLER, than it was when we had a "house" and drove back and forth to work each day. We use far less water and electricity and have1/10 the space to keep warm in winter and cool in summer. We spend the winters in Arizona and summer on the coast of Washington and Oregon. We have met and stayed in contact with some of the most wonderful people we have ever met! This is a WONDERFUL country! Can't disagree one bit with those who say it is being DISTROYED by those who don't care about the Constitution and those who don't understand WHY we have immagration laws. Our "elected officials" now and in the past and the voter that put them in there are who I hold responsibl and am VERY angry with! Maybe, in your vacation time, you can tour America and find some little out of the way place you like and live a simpler life "away from it all". It ALL depends on how you look at it!
33 :
I know nearly 100% of the people in this Country is going to disagree with this but hey I'm not on Yahoo for votes or numbers those things are not important to me. But I believe in a World where people should be able to come and go as they please not being tied to some Rope or Mother may I. I guess this whole World got the wrong ideal of what Freedom really means. Free means Free no matter now you cut it. How can anyone in their right mind think that life is better in America when your life is on a rope that is tied to your Government's hand. If I'm dating someone from another Country the Government should not have any say so of if the person I Love can come into this Country or not. It is good to know that Governments in other parts of the World don't think like the American Government. Many people like myself want to get out and enjoy other parts of the World and I'm sure they are like myself would like to do this without anything holding them back or making it hard on them. I have heard many people say from other Countries like Germany that it is easier for me to come to their Country than it is for them to come to the U.S. I think this should tell many people something in this Country. But we live in a World where everyone want to control someone and boss someone to the people of America is really living their life like this and shouldn't. Author, Eddie Smith.

All I can say is, maybe you're living in the wrong part of the US. If you live on the east or west coasts, then I can see why you're so dis-illusioned. You need to come to the smaller towns in the Midwest. I never lock the door on the house, often times leave the keys in the car at the store, never take them out at home, etc. Sure, we have out bad eggs just like everywhere, but it's not the cut throat lifestyle like on either side of the country. I've traveled all over this country and take my word for it, country people in the Midwest still know what manners are unlike the Northeast (Boston, NY, etc). As far as spirtually, in this town of 13,700 people, at last count there were 19 churches, not including the ones in the country. If you want to experience the simple life, there's plenty of Amish communities where you can find more non-materialistic living than you can stand. You'd be surprised how many non-Amish there are who don't have TV's...not because they can't afford them, but because they don't like the intrusion. There is an extremely large number of people who are volunteer fireman...no pay and no glory but they get satisfaction from doing a community service. Two years ago a tornado grazed my farm and killed four people, two right next door. Local construction firms came in to clear debris at their own expense. Christian groups came in and with the help of local school officials, provided meals at the school for those without electricity (like me) or the more unfortunate that didn't have homes left. The school excused our kids from class for a couple of days to help clean up debris, teaching them a very valuable lesson. You might want to look around this country and meet people who have goals that are other than fame, power and fortune before you "Throw the baby out with the bathwater".
35 :
Hmmmmm, BYE!
36 :
Thank you! No you're not the only one who wants to get out, Im leaving in a few months actually because of what you said, yeah you may be able to have nice things here but it is nothing compared to what one may lack here.

Looks like someone must have gotten rejected or hurt by a white woman. You have problems that you need to deal with.
2 :
this is way too long with plenty of issues embedded within.. Good luck with that
3 :
ummm... i don't know about the sex thing but mostly it's cuz of the mother saying don't date a black women or they never liked a black women other then that it's just personal choice in the end

Maybe b/ca these black men don't buy into the stereotypes or maybe b/ca they do. What I'm saying is: Not all white women are like what you described. Maybe these black men see more than the superficial things that you've seen or maybe these black men buy into that whole 'promiscuity' thing and want these women b/ca they're easy. A woman is a woman and a man is a man. No one should prejudge anyone. You miss out.
