My car needs a new engine and is almost paid off!?

My car needs a new engine and is almost paid off!?
I own a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe that will be paid off in July this year. I bought the car new and never had trouble with it. The car started making a knocking noise upon ignition and I took the car in for repair. A dealership that I've been getting repair work done for the past 3 years made the diagnosis, so I trust their work. The car has 124000 miles on it and the engine will cost approximately $2500 to replace. The discovery has cost me $300 already. How would I get a cheaper 2nd opinion? I am unsure what to do at this point. The market is so good for automobile purchases with good financing available. I don't know if I should pay the money to repair the car or just get a new one. The mechanic said I could still drive it, I'd just be rolling the dice for the engine to fail though.

as you know time getting hard. so i just put a motor in an try to save a note
3 :
Any replacement vehicle will cost more than $2500. In this case I suggest researching the used market for a replacement engine as recycle yards can supply one. Quite common and they warranty the used engine as well. Or, put the money aside now and drive on.
4 :
If the engine actually bad that's a reasonable price but what is supposedly wrong with your engine. If you took it to a garage that always does you repair they kind of stuck it to you for a diagnoses, Get a second opinion.
5 :
Get a second opinion. Sounds like a timing/computer issue. If you really do need a new motor, you need a different vehicle. You've learned the Hyundai lesson, buy a used Toyota or Honda this time. Do not sink more money into that old car.

Should I trade in? or sell privately?

Should I trade in? or sell privately?
I'm going to be getting some money due to a settlement. So I want a newer more reliable car. I am making payments on a 2004 hyundai santa fe My initial loan was 12,000 I've been paying on it for over a year. It is HORRIBLE on gas and I hear hyundai's don't last too long. So I want to invest in a Honda Civic. Preferably a 2006-2007 Honda Civic four door. I shopped around, it's looking to be about 11-12 grand. The trade in value of my car is 7,000 according to kelly blue book. So my question is, do I go to a dealership and trade my car in and just hope they pay off the rest of my loan that I currently have on my car? or do I sell it independently for the private party value (including my transferable two year warranty) -paying off my loan then using that amount (plus my settlement money) to buy and pay off a car at either a dealership or private seller... please, someone help me out here! thank you!

well if you trade your santa fe a dealership will probably take-off for every little defect with the vehicle and things like that but it up to you
2 :
talk to dealer and see what kind of deal you can get try to sell and see if you get any offers
3 :
You will get a lot more for it if you sell it to a private party. The only problem with that is that sometimes it takes time between selling your car and buying the new one - can you be a few days without a car? If no, you might have to trade it in. But sell it outright if at all possible! I'd NEVER trade a car in, personally. Try www.cars.com to sell - it's pretty affordable, and it gets a lot of hits, you are sure to sell your car there. I've purchased at least 2 cars there myself, and sold a couple, too.
4 :
I wouldn't trade it in. I would sell it but I don't trust the 2006/07 Honda Civic's too much. Too many reports of engine block problems. http://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Civic/2006/engine/ I have a 2001 Elantra with close to 170,000 miles on it and I still get around 34 MPG. The newer Elantra's saves even more gas. Just like with any car, if you take care of it it will last. There are other good gas savers in the same class as the Civic. I would shop around some more.

how could i determine my grandfather's net worth?

how could i determine my grandfather's net worth?
my grandfather is a multimillionaire. he's in the oil business and has made many ridiculously wise investments (developed large lot of santa fe before its boom in the 80's). he's sort of an "old money" type (he's not ostentatious at all) and a reverse snob; he's very frugal, does NOT talk about money (and is very prudent about talking about anything he's associated with that would indicated wealth or snobbery, ie, he's acquainted with high-profile businessmen and politicians but avoids the subject), and generally everything that someone who's nouveau riche is not. This is why I don't know how much his estate is worth because he lives way below his means. his kids (and this grandchildren) don't even know how mcuh he makes (i think its because he doesnt want feel like they dont need to work). how do i figure out how much hes worth (hes not rich enough to be in forbes). somewhere between 1 million and 50 million (a stretch, but he IS in oil). also-he's 82 and still works (for fun).

Why would you need to know this? What difference does it make to you? If you're trying to calculate how much of it you'll end up with, be careful - you don't know who he might leave it to. It doesn't necessarily get split evenly among children or grandchildren - he could leave it all to charity if he wants to.
2 :
It is not your business to know. He obviously does not want you to.
3 :
You already know a lot about his finances, if he wanted you to know more, he would tell you. Don't start counting your inheritance, he could dissolve his holdings and sell off his property before he dies, or give it away, or donate it where he likes. It's more important to enjoy your time with him, and be a loving grandchild.
4 :
Leave the old dudes finances alone and enjoy some fun time with him while he is alive. Take him to see a penguin movie, or a pony ride. Ask him what he likes, ask him to tell you everything that he thinks matters. Learn from him and you will both be richer for it.
5 :
You can't determine his net worth without his complete cooperation. Sounds like you're not going to get it. Your grandfather sounds like a smart and wise man. Too bad his granddaughter is greedy and lazy.
6 :
You could ask him and if he thinks you have a need to know he will answer otherwise he will cut you out of his will as a money grubbing grandchild. Better to ask him how he made his money and learn all you can from him about working and investing before you lose the opportunity. Call him, talk with him, visit him and show a real interest in him and in his life.
7 :
1) Find his properties 2) Find his cars 3) Find his companies (Usually it's just one) 4) Find his portfolio It's going to cost you a lot of money to find all that information. It's not worth it. Just go to Harvard and make your own millions.

What is your reaction to this story Illegal immigrants finding it hard to get work & may leave US?
For the first time since he arrived in the United States 27 years ago, Isidro Alvarado, a day laborer in Vista, says he's thinking about going home to Mexico. Alvarado said he is finding it increasingly hard to get work here. He's not alone. A recent study by the Pew Hispanic Center, a research organization, reported that Latino immigrants ---- legal and illegal ---- have been hit hard by the nation's struggling economy, and some are returning home. That's playing out locally. Officials with two North County day labor centers run by nonprofit agencies said they have seen a steady decline in the number of employers looking for workers. Work is one of the main reasons why illegal immigrants such as Alvarado come to this country. Alvarado said he resorted to standing at the corner of South Santa Fe and Escondido avenues in Vista three months ago, when he lost his job at a construction company. He gets odd jobs from homeowners and small contractors moving furniture, landscaping and painting, he said. "This year, it got ugly," Alvarado, 32, said. "Many people are out of work and don't even have money for presents. It doesn't even feel like Christmas." Over the last week, he said, he has worked only one day and is struggling to make ends meet. At about 10 a.m. Tuesday, no employer had stopped to offer work to the more than 50 men standing on the sidewalk, many of whom were illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America. Gordon Hanson, an economist at UC San Diego who specializes in immigration issues, said the jury is still out as to whether immigrants are leaving the U.S. because of the economy. He said much of the data that is available was culled before the economic crisis deepened late this year. But there are early indications they are leaving, Hanson said. "This is an expensive place to live, and some of the hardest hit areas in the economy are construction, hospitality and retail," industries that rely heavily on immigrant labor, Hanson said. In North County, Interfaith Community Services officials said fewer and fewer employers have come to them looking for workers in recent years. For example, there were 248 employers in October 2005, 137 in October 2006, 78 in October 2007 and 82 in October 2008. Officials noted that October 2007 was an unusual month because of the wildfires, when the office was closed for a few days.http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2008/12/20/news/sandiego/z1d2703d8b7baaa4488257521006b3238.txt I ask WHO CARES???!!!! I am ashamed of my own people, for not standing up to our own government. The White people made this a great country, made a wonderful bill of rights and constitution and we use it against them. No wonder they are all mad and spiteful of Mexicans. They told england and the Queen to ##### off and went there own way. We can do this too in Mexico. Come on brothers and sisters, its time for us to take back Mexico from the corrupt government. Come with me, stand up. We have a beautiful country, the land is better and richer than America, lets go back and get it what belongs to us already.

False Advertising on Used Car... Law Advice?

False Advertising on Used Car... Law Advice?
I purchased a 2004 Santa Fe from a used car lot. When I bought it, I believed it was an LX trim, with a 3.5 liter engine... as per the online ad on their website and on auto trader. However, I found out after purchasing it that it is the GLS Trim model, with a 2.7 liter engine. On kelly blue book the difference in value between the vehicles is: the GLS model is worth roughly 10% less than the model I thought I was purchasing. Now, the bill of sale does not list a trim. Just the make and model. However, I have a print out of both adverts, both with a picture of the car I bought, stating the 'false' specs. Is this enough to prove false advertising? I would ask for my money back, but I spent $75 registering the vehicle and $275 buying tires for it. I would need to be reimbursed for those costs should he offer a return. Otherwise I want roughly 10% rebate on the price a paid for the vehicle. Is this an acceptable demand? What would you do?

Take this question to your attorney. If you were induced to enter into a contract by a deceptive trade practice, you may be entitled to damages equalling three times your actual loss. Consult an attorney immediately. If you do not have an attorney, contact the local lawyer referral service or the one at your state's bar association website.
2 :
They would seem to be in breach of a warranty under the Uniform Commercial Code. If that's the case, your legal remedy would be more or less what you're asking for (i.e. the difference between the price of the LX Trim you contracted for and the GLS Trim you got). In order for this section to apply, you'd have to show that the description they gave you in the advertisement formed the basis of the contract. You might also need to show that you still had a reasonable belief that you were looking at an LX Trim when you inspected the vehicle. This would mean showing not only that you honestly believed it was an LX Trim, but also that a reasonably diligent inspection wouldn't have made the difference obvious. This is because you need to show that their description in the ad or affirmation that the car was a certain model formed part of the basis of the bargain. Obviously, a lot depends on the exact facts of your negotiations etc. You should definitely seek professional legal advice before you take any legal action.
3 :
It's simple. If the car was misrepresented then you have a very strong case and the dealer who sold it to you deserves everything they have coming to them!

Need advice on what to do?

Need advice on what to do?
I have a 03 Hyundai Santa Fe. Basic model. The situation is such that it needs A LOT of repairs since I was basically stupid and never bothered to take my vehicle in for regular check-ups and servicing. I now sit at almost 99,000 miles on it. Among the many things the main ones from what I understand are a new serpantine belt, new battery, brakes maybe transmission and catalytic converter. I had taken my vehicle to the dealership where I bought it and was quoted around $5000.00 for everything that needed to be done. Obviously I walked out and did not do anything. Now for the maybe 4th or 5th time in the past three years my car has just died while driving on the road. I borrowed jumpers and attempted to jump to make it back home but no luck. Which sort of tells me that it could very well be the converter issue again. So the advice or wisdom I need from anyone who can help is that tomorrow I can pay $1500 to have the mechanic I know just work on the s belt and cat converter issues. Does this seem like a fair reasonable price to you? I tried to look at parts online and I can get them but am not sure if I would be getting the right parts. Is this something I can find in my manual perhaps? Would the mech be willing to tell me what exact parts I need and I can get them from a store. Which route should I take? I would appreciate all knowledge on this matter. It would be of good help to me because I am debating if putting any money into this vehicle now at this stage is worth it. Thank you. There is no explanation for why I never got it properly serviced like I was supposed to. In all respects everything that is happening now is something I deserve to go through since I never really took care of it. I can give a multitude of reasons but in the end they would be all bull sh* Just need solid advice on what I should do.

take it to an after market exhaust shop and get the converter changed should be no more than 200 with labor then get alt checked to se if it is charging the battery go to advance auto and maybe with a little luck they will replace the belt for you the belt should be around 38.00 the reason i told you to have the alternator checked is it may not be the battery but the alt. not charging you should be able to fix most of your problems for a lot less than 1500.00 but don't pay that much just for a converter and a belt you are getting ripped off!!

i need to write an essay about a famous person in french...the problem is that i cant understand french so if someone knows french can they please translate this text,if its too much then pls write a paragraph in french about messi,or send me a link were i can find someones biography in french "Born in the Santa Fe province of Argentina, Lionel Messi started kicking the ball at an early age and when he was just 5 years old, he joined the training sessions of the club his father was coaching at that time, Grandoli.Knowing that L.messi wont have a good future in Grandoli his father took him to an youth academy “old boys”when he was only 8 years old. Three years later, Messi was already showing promise and he was considered a huge future talent, but unfortunately he was diagnosed with a growth hormone, that could be cured but it would cost around 700$ per month, but the messi family didn’t have the money for it. Fortunately for the young player, FC Barcelona, who was already scouting him, learned of his problem and decided to help out and put the life of Leonel Messi back on its rightful track. Messi soon signed with Barcelona's youth team and moved to Spain for his treatment. Recovering from his growth problem, messi started playing regularly for FC Barcelona's youth squad and in a few years, he was taken to the B squad of Barcelona, where he managed an impressive 35 goals in 30 matches.he made it in the “big team”in 2005,where he scored his first official goal against Albacete,he was only 17 years old.messi became the biggest star of Barcelona in the season 2006-2007 were he single-handedly beat chealsea in the champion league.nowdays messi is considered the best player of the world, and he is on a race with his team mates xavi and inesta for winning the “fifa ballon d or” witch will make him the best player of 2010.messi is called “the alien”cause people are amazed from his skills and they think that what he does with the ball is out of this world.he is my idol for football,i try to play like him in every match.one more thing messi=bessi, its not a coincidence" if its too much then pls write a paragraph in french about messi,or send me a link were i can find someones biography in french

Beg borrow or steal to get hours and ratings. A degree from Embry Riddle is not a necessity as much as flight experience, ratings, and a college education. So get your private - make friends at the airport any chance you get to fly in your own plane or a friends or a rental - do it and build hours. If someone is having their plane painting and he needs to drop it off and you can fly and pick him up (and he will pay for your expenses - NOT your time) DO IT. If a flight school needs an airplane moved and you can help them - DO IT. Get the hours and experience. Then work on your instrument and commercial. If you can get any multi experience from flying with someone - DO IT. Offer to wash or wax his airplane or whatever to help you build the time. Then go on to fly cargo and on to the airlines. If you have a college education, no incidents, no accidents, NO DUIs, and experience you can get hired by the airlines.

If you are in Santa Fe NM, look into the Mesa Pilot Development Training program offered in Farmington NM at San Juan College. It's a 2 year degree and it's as close to home as you can get. If you're looking for a 4 year degree Mesa also has a partnership with Arizona State down in Phoenix as well as the Phoenix East school as you previously mentioned. Do a bit of searching on-line and you'll find there are quite a few more economical flight schools that can offer you an aviation degree - and you won't be quite so far into debt in the end as going to Embry Riddle.

I lived 14 yrs in that area. NO WAY in He!! do I want you living in that area. I live in the south BX (the Bronx) now and used to live in Buffalo, NY as well. There you can just say "I aint bangin" but in LA it's not like that at all. Do you have an Aunt, even out of state you can live with? You won't get the safety or education you deserve living in Watts or Compton. PS. Everyone is struggling now. These corporations have divided the rich and poor even further. They don't care what race or religion you are. Do not get into dealing, my family is predominately Hispanic and many have and it doesn't give a good name to Hispanic people. Try Geico they are hiring like crazy.

While it's true that brevity is an asset in resumes, you might reconsider the previous advice. A brief resume isn't much good if it doesn't really convey what you did - a simple list of task titles isn't really what most personnel officers are looking for. Also, a good objective up front like the suggested one shows displays what you're looking for in a job.

If you are a parent could you answer? Desperate mom here?

If you are a parent could you answer? Desperate mom here?
I need major advice. I am from Santa Fe warm and wonderful... my husband moved us to Durant Oklahoma 4 years ago. We moved when he got a good job. We have a 2.5 year old child. His boss lets us stay in his grandparents old home built in 1942. My husband makes 50-65000 per year and we don't have bills. Cars are paid for and utilities are free. Well this house isn't so bad in mild months, but 110 summers and freezing winters, I just can't take anymore. It is snowing and 4 degrees outside and inside the warmest I can get it is 44-48 degrees without tripping a fuse. The pipes are froze and no way to drink, bathe or flush, so there is a pile of waste in the toilet my husband left this morning. My child is cold, I am cold and my husband sits in his truck or tractor all day warm and socializing and eating out and only comes home to sleep where we have to share a bed all three of us because only one room is warm enough (48). He doesn't seem to care about our future. He makes good money but always eats out and buys his friends food when he goes out and buys like 3 thirty packs of beer a week for him and his buddies and spends ton on diesel so he can drive around and hunt. Today I just left. I asked him to not leave us with no water or way to cook since the microwave is literally frozen stuck but he just says "go to get takeout and water" and tosses me a $20. I am at a friends and I am seriously considering just leaving to go home for good but I love him and deep down I know he loves us too. I just need for my son to be safe and warm. Seeing him try to use the toilet when there is frozen pool in there was more than I could handle. What should I do? *poop not pool I have no money. It is all his. I do have a degree but live in the middle of nowhere so I don't work. He spends it. We only have $8500 in savings but its cash and he has it. No credit cards.

its rent free, ffs. if you wanna, why don't you check into a motel until the cold weather passes
2 :
Leave. I wouldn't even think twice.
3 :
hey. yea. you did the right thing by leaving. i'm so sorry. that sounds terrible. he sounds like he doesn't really treat you and your son they way you both deserve to be treated
4 :
Leave - it will get him in line. He will need to realize what he is in danger of losing before he takes you seriously and listens. Leaving is the only way to get his attention - he is being extremely negligent towards you and your child. Have your demands ready for him when he wants you back. I think that you will have to move - a landlord that has given you a house for free has made your husband reluctant to demand that his living quarters be livable, and unfortunately, you are getting what you paid for.
5 :
Tell your husband or ask his boss if you can redo the house!! Go to a friends house pls! Your son is probably freezing!! Brrr! Up in Nebraska it feels like -30!! Good luck!!
6 :
first I would go to a hotel, then I would say either you and him move into a better place or you will leave.. this is not unreasonable request .
7 :
Give him an ultimatum, and do not return to that house until the pipes and heating are fixed. With all the money he makes, there is no reason you two shouldn't even be looking for your own place to buy or at least rent! He makes enough where you don't have to live free. What is he doing with his paychecks-hopefully saving them. Tell him to fix the plumbing and heat in the next week or so-stay at your friends or at a motel until then-thenn if it isn't fixed, go home. When/if he finally realizes that you are serious, hopefully he'll fix the house or find a new one, and then beg you to come back. You did the right thing, and leaving is your only option, hopefully temporarily. Those are unfit living situations for your son and you, and you shouldn't put up with it any longer. Men can be pigs, and don't always realize when things are just unexceptable-no excuse but still-give him one more chance. If he doesn't step up and be a man, go home and don't come back until he has lived up to your expectations. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.
8 :
I'm sorry I wouldn't have stayed this long. If you have no overhead and he makes that much...where is all the money? Why can't you afford to live in a place that isn't a hazard? I'd leave, and threaten have the house condemned because it's not fit to live in, if your husband is to selfish or stupid to see reason. Do you have ANY control over any of the assets? Does the money not go into a checking account or does he just have everything? I'm sorry but this story makes me angry and if it were me...I would have kicked hisass into next week already...say about 4 years ago when I discovered the house was unsuitable for human occupancy. There's no way I'd be raising a child in it. ***************** He's not spending 65000 dollars a year on beer honey. That may be what he's telling you...but it would take a hell of a lot more than three thirty packs a week to burn through that much cash. Whores, online gambling, ebay, drugs. Beer alone doesn't burn through that much money. You've got bigger problems ...and I wouldn't be so sure about how he feels "deep down". A man that cares about his family...doesn't do this. Contact your family, or a friend that's willing to support you and plan for your future, because it doesn't sound like there is one with this guy. It's your responsibility to provide for yourself. It's all fine and good to stay home and have the husband be the provider and whatever...but you can't leave yourself wide open to this type of helplessness. Especially when there's a child to think of. It doesn't matter...it's too late now. But for furture reference. Don't put your life in someone else's hands. AT LEAST have a joint account or a back up account or a stash at home....something. You don't EVER leave yourself helpless to the whims of another. Hows your credit? If it's good, apply for a credit card, use it to get out. ********************* Contact your landlord...it's illegal for him to have you living in a place with no heat and no water. He's also liable for your safety by being a slumlord.
9 :
uhm, by all means.. leave him for good. what kind of man (husband, father) leaves his wife and kid in conditions like those? a deadbeat, for sure!
10 :
Well, to be honest with your husband making 50-65k a year and no other obligations, there's no reason to accept the housing offered by his employer. You're both choosing free accommodations over paying for an updated, working home which you could easily afford. You talk about all the things your husband does with his friends, does he spend equal time with his family? If the answer is no, then that's something that needs to be hammered out, and if it can't be then leaving may be best for you. Added~ Leave. If he's blowing through his income and refusing to provide his family with adequate housing you shouldn't tolerate it.
11 :
The bigger issue here is that he is putting his friends, himself and his beer ahead of you and your son. It's not the cold or the hot, it's the relationship. You need to do what's best for you and your son, and it sounds like getting away from him for a while is the best thing. Stay with your friend for a week, if you can. Talk to family, listen to your gut. Don't make any rash decisions, but also make sure you and your son are safe and warm!
12 :
Leave, at least temporarily. Make him realize what he stands to lose. When (and if) he asks you to come home, demand a new, livable house and for him to be home more often. Really, what husband and father is content with only coming home to sleep? Does his family not matter to him? But seriously, you need to get yourself and your child out of that house. When he realizes what he just lost, give him your demands for living together again (livable home, him home more often, etc.) and do not go back until he fulfills them.
13 :
Hon, sometimes love is not enough. While he is well and comfortable, you are being abused. I am of two thoughts here, so I'll tell you both. The first would be to leave, if this is how your husband would treat you, it is abusive behavior and as much as you may love each other, a person does not allow their loved ones to suffer. Just remember that. That's where love is not enough. Love has to be more, it has to provide well for your family, and he is not doing that. He doesn't seem to care. And if you want to argue that, think of how you would treat him - would you leave him to suffer like you are, would any loving man. It is easy to say you love someone, but a man's actions speak much louder. When you are feeling mistreated, trust those feelings. He is mistreating you - and especially since I see you have no money. The second thought is to contact his employer since you are in the employer's home. And tell him that the living conditions in the home have become intolerable. Now, that can really mess things up with your husband and I do fear a bit for his reaction once the boss knows. You are in substandard living conditions. Hon, do what you need to to take care of yourself. I'd suggest leaving, this has gone on far too long. If you can get your hands on some money from bank accounts, take everything you can get, I mean everything. And take things that you can use or sell for money. I assume you aren't getting money and he isn't giving you much - go to the bank and see what you can get. Go home, be safe. And stay with the friend until you can get this all done. But be quiet about it - don't let him know what you are doing - he's likely to get violent. Please believe me, I know. EDIT: Get out, if he's holding the money - and where is the salary going to????? You know, he should have a lot more cash on hand. On a salary of 30,000 he could save up 5,000 a year, why does he only have $8500. Something is wrong - and does he always comes home.
14 :
With the money he makes per year you all could find a better house. You would have to pay bills, but like I said, his income would support y'all.
15 :
Your husband Sounds like a jackass. For him to treat you and his kid like is messed up. You should just leave his ass and never look back.
16 :
Ask the landlord where you are staying if there is anything that he, or that you guys can do to fix the problems, rather than initially just running from it all. A lot of time landlords will either pay to have their place fixed so you will stay, or they will allow you to make arrangements to have it fixed yourself. Talk with your husband about this as well. Tell him you can't take no more, and unless things around here get fixed, you have no choice but to go back home. That it is unhealthy for your son and you, and you can't do it here anymore. That gives your husband a chance to speak with his boss, and see if anything can be done. If so great! Your living environment will improve, and you can stay near your husband, and be warm! If not then the only other choice that you have is to go back home. At least you are giving him an option to fix things, before just taking off. To me that would be the best way to go about it. Is to give it a chance to get fixed. It may never be a true "home" to you, but that doesn't mean it can't be a nice place to stay for a little while. Good luck, and am so sorry that things are like that for you right now.
17 :
Uh, you DO have money. You are entitled to a minimum of HALF his earnings. You are a team, you are raising his child. It is time to sit down and have an open and serious talk with hubby.

"Tycoon" older board game?

"Tycoon" older board game?
I played a board game called Tycoon a few days ago. I want to buy it but I am unable to find it. It was made by Parker Brothers. It is NOT "The Stock Market Game" or anything like that, though it does deal with the stock market. It has six corporations: Santa Fe Railroad, Ford Motors, United States Steel, General Electric, General Motors, and American Telephone and Telegraph. You try to become the owner of the corporations and make the most money. If anyone could tell me where I could find it that would be much appreciated. Thanks

What is a good 'out the door' price to pay for a 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible SE?

What is a good 'out the door' price to pay for a 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible SE?
I am looking at a new 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible SE in the New Orleans area. Sticker is $26,390. I am NOT going to pay sticker for it, but wanted an idea of how low I can reasonably go on the deal with the salesman. I want him to make some money, but I don't necessarily want to send his kids to college on this one deal. I am trading in a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe with high miles (150K), a bad powersteering pump and bad brake rotors. Any advice will be helpful.

Before trade in, you can usually get just about invoice for the car! i got my jetta for three grand under sticker price, which was its inoice. Check on www.consumerreports.com and see what bottom line pricing of the specific car is. My suggestion to you would to not pay any more than 24k, maybe even 23k. Also, check other dealers around you. Although they say that VW won't lower prices much, around this time, some dealrs are so deserate to get cars out, they'll sell them at a price alot lower than average
2 :
The sticker price is a joke, heck even the invoice price is somewhat false as it too has been marked up oftentimes. Most dealers get special volume sales incentives (rebates) for meeting quotes that lowers their cost, plus factory incentives to unload certain models. Rather then driving around town wasting time, the modern method is to email several dealers and ask for their best price on the exact car you want. This will save you time and basically puts into writing the price they are offering. Considering the economy in New Orleans and nationwide with car sales being down, they might be very deseperate to make a sale. http://www.edmunds.com lists the invoice price as $25096(including destination charge) and retail as $26,390. You can request dealer quotes directly through edmunds too.

Anyone know how to find baby-sitting jobs in the North County area of San Diego,CA?

Anyone know how to find baby-sitting jobs in the North County area of San Diego,CA?
I've baby-sat before and I am looking for people that live around the Santaluz area in San Diego. I will be going to college in the middle of January but I am looking for a way to make some money until then. I am great with kids and I use to work at Chuck E. Cheese's. However, that doesn't mean I want to go to Chuck E. Cheese's. I have a car and would be able to run errands or pick up kids from school. If you live in San Diego , CA near Rancho Santa Fe or PQ area, e-mail me.

Summer Job--Where??

Summer Job--Where??
Ok- I'm 15 and live in Rice Lake, Wisconsin (town of about 8,000) I really want a summer job so I can make some money, but I don't know where and how to go about getting one. I have applied at several places, but I have never heard back from them. Where is a good place to find a job? and DON'T say McDonald's or I might have to hunt you down and strangle you. There is no way in Santa Fe I'm working at McDonald's.

how can i get them to leave me alone?

how can i get them to leave me alone?
i live in a wealthy neighborhood called Rancho Santa Fe, in San Diego CA and the kids at my school refuse to talk to me because my parents make a lot of money. I'm not one of those girls who are really rich and flaunt their money and wear only designer clothes, but they still see me like that. How can i get them to accept me as me, not my parent's money? p.s. yes it would be good to be rich, but its really not.

invite them over for a big as party
2 :
Maybe try to get involved in extracurricular activities, join some clubs, get involved in volunteering, attend school events, do down to earth things and show those kids that you are the same as they are. Try to make one friend and it will turn into more:) I wasn't a rich kid but I was friends with them.
3 :
Let them know that you do want to be friends. Say, "Please don't judge me, I just want to be friends." Kill them with kindness. Smile at those people, and ask them if they'd like to hang out at the park. When you do hang out, only do things that are free. If they are still mean then that is there problem and they are angry with there life not yours. I'm so happy that you aren't one of those "rich b*tches" and remember not everyone is going to get along with you. I only have three friends but I figure I'd rather have three good real true friends than ten fake and flaky friends.
4 :
Inviting them over for a party would only emphasis how you live off your parents money. Instead, just get to know people one by one. I'm sure not EVERYONE thinks your that way, probably only a group at school right? Well forget them, they're making judgments off your parents. They don't know smack about you. Join some clubs or sports. Something that will make you an individual so you won't be see as "Daddy's little girl." Its tempting to win the approval or others at school by using money, but don't, otherwise you'll attract "friends" that only want your money. Just be yourself and let them see you for who you are.
5 :
dont try to get them to accept you- they're dumb if they're gonna act like that.. it's just like treating someone bad for being poor. you dont deserve that kinda treatment, so just wave them off. you'll find better friends down the road, and sometimes a few good ones are better than a bunch of useless ones. stay true to yourself, you dont have to prove yourself to anyone!
6 :
They're not worth your time. Anyone who would judge you by what you have or don't have has some serious issues, with their own self worth. You need to be surrounded by some strong individuals with values. If you're looking for friends then join some clubs at school and get involved. Let people see you for you.
7 :
They seem to have a united force against you and as such, are hving too much fun bashing you. You are not a person anymore to them, you are taht 'rich gir'. They have dug a line in the sand and are not going to cross it. concentrate on your studies. You know the expression, ' This is so High School,; well this is one of those things. Do you have an activites away from school? Dancing ballet, a musical instument, volunteer work with some organization? Those things are better for you resume when you submit our colege applicaitons. At those places ( or where your interests lie) you will meet people who share your interests, your mind set. I know it doesn't seem so, but start preparaing for college, for get these girls, they are petty. There seems to be a concentration of them in high school. There are petty people where ever you go in the world. Even when you become an adult, there are petty people in the work place. People who achieve usually do it with hard work and determination. It is obvious these girls are jealous of you, and not for the reason they say. In actuality, they are envious of who they THINK you are, and WHAT they think you have. I truly feel however, it is a series of more deep-seated issues on their part. You probably have a lot going for you intellictually and also in the looks department to name two possible reasons. These girls would like the other students to stay away from you by saying these things about you. It makes them feel powerful and important to accomplish this. They in essence have instigated a war against you. They are trying to lay down a totally false foundation of who you are. By sayng these false things about you and establishing a false impression about you with theri daily remarrks to anyone who listen, no doubt. They are in fact, committing slander against you, and it is affecting you deeply. You are worried, you feel stressed by this daily psycological assult. They are trying to redefine your personality without you having anything to do with it. They have in a way accomplished this to a small dregree, as you spend time trying to uravel what is going on, 'why are doing this to me?' They have upset you enough that you are looking for answers from stangers in hopes of making this all go away. These girls must lead boring lives to concentrate on you so much. What they are doing is actually evil. They are starting baseless rumors about you that is casuing you pain and stress. Don't let them stress get to you. Ignore them completely. Give these girls the 'high hat, the 'hoot.' Be nice to other people just ignore them. don't talk to them if they talk to you, but talk to other people in a normal way. They do not deserve your friendship, your time or your worry for one moment. If they chase after you after receiving this treatment, then report them and tell your parents. Maybe you should informe your parents about this situation. Frankly, I don't think its going to get better. I expect they will push the encelope as much as possible. They are tying to make you crack. DON'T LET THEM DO IT TO YOU! Tell your parents about your circumstances. They will take care of it because what is happening is unacceptable. School officials only do what they have to do, not what they ought to do. What is happening to you is totally unacceptable. You do however, need to enjoy your life and concentrate on your school work. If you do poorly in school, then these girls will have won. The sweetest revenge is s
ucess. God Bless you, dear. Good Luck, you deserve it!

Just make sure that any work at home opportunities that you're looking at don't require any money up front! You should never have to pay to get a job. 99% of the time if they require money up front, then they"re a scam. Also, any time you get the information about a work at home company, check them out through the Better Business Bureau.

Planning to buy a mini SUV.Should i go for the CRV,Rav,Suzuki Grand Vitara or Hyundai Santa fe?

Planning to buy a mini SUV.Should i go for the CRV,Rav,Suzuki Grand Vitara or Hyundai Santa fe?
I am planning to buy a mini SUV.I liked the CRV but the high price for both Rav and CRV.How abt the less famous ones like Suzuki Grand Vitara.I was in Australia recently i saw many Suzuki's Vitaras around i liked the styling and the 2.7 L engine than the 2.4L of the others.Another one is the Santa Fe. Hyundai seems to be making value for money cars. They have improved considerably as shown by many consumer reports studies.Having reliability comparable to Toyota's. I have a 95 model Accord which was damn reliable. And i have a soft corner for Honda CRV.But they are so costly.Hondas & Toyota's they charge a high premium for their cars.

Go for either the Honda or Toyota....DO NOT BUY any other make.... Suzuki?? U must be out of your mind... The Toyota is probably the best choice
2 :
This is my second CRV. I always buy Honda because I know when I leave the house in the morning to go to work - I know it will start. I have never had one problem with Honda.
3 :
Honda and Toyota do have the best reputation, but as you said you have to pay for that reputation. In my opinion, out of the ones you listed the Hyundai Sante Fe is the best vehicle and value for your money. Thousands cheaper than either the Toyota or Honda, more power if you go with the bigger engine Hyundai offers, more room (not much but every little bit helps) and the warranty Hyundai has with there vehicles is awesome, 5 yr 60k Bumper to Bumper and 10 yr 100k powertrain warranty. I would stay away from the Suzuki right now, reliabilty is questionable, and the company itself is in a funk which could lead in the future to dealers getting rid of franchises and that would create a lot of headaches for Suzuki owners and warranty repairs.
4 :
It depends on how much you want to spend as well as what you are going to be happy with, all cars have there up side and their down, Suzuki's Vitaras are a reliable car ,Hyundai don,t always hold their price etc The big thing is value for money and availability of parts than running costs and reliability You must weigh up all parameters about each car and make a choice from that,
5 :
The Honda CR-V is the best choice because it is the most reliable out of the whole group.
6 :
Hyundai Santa Fe has really improved this last year. The 2007 model is INCREDIBLE. It is a great car with unbeatable warranty, great price and it is one of the safest mid-size SUVs out there. Check out this link for some safety info: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/summary.aspx?class=55
