Some of these questions are VERY badly written. 1. In the 1980s and 1990s, Latin America generally D) suffered from hyperinflation. This might not be the answer desired, but it is true. Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Mexico all had to remonetize between 1980 and 1995. 2. Which country had a civil war that lasted from 1960 to 1996? D) Guatemala http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guatemalan_Civil_War 3. What was Che Guevara’s main goal in Cuba? B and C are both true. My guess is C) To establish a Marxist regime is the desired response. 4. The military dictatorships of Chile, Brazil, and Argentina all C) used torture and murder to silence opposition. 5. Which Latin American country experienced an inflation rate of 2,500% per year by 1990? At one thime or another. A,B,and C are all true. B) Brazil was the worst of the lot, but Peru wasn't far behind, and Mexico in 1982 and 1983 came very close. 6. Thirty thousand people disappeared from which country between 1976 and 1983? C) Argentina (Los Desparecidos) 7. What was true about U.S. foreign policy in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua? None of these answers fits all three cases. During the late 1980s, the Sandanista government in Nicaragua WAS communist for all practical purposes, eliminating D. The Iran - Contra affair eliminates B and C. A is the only response that even comes close. 8. Which of the following countries is ruled by a communist government? B) Cuba 9. Which of the following countries was ruled by a dictatorship? A) Cuba, although one could argue that Chile under Pinochet wasn't much better. 10. Which of the following countries had a GDP of more than $10,000 in 2004? All of them did. I suspect they meant per capita, but they sure didn't say that.

Going To Cuba?

Going To Cuba?
Well I have citizenship from 3 countries (Argentina,Spain,US).Born In Spain, lived in the US and family is from Argentina. I have updated passports from all three countries. Now I really want to go to Cuba, I know it is a BIG NO NO to go over there if you are a US Citizen however I am a Argentina and Spanish citizen as well and they have the right to go. But if I go I want to go through Mexico using either my Argentine or Spanish passport, now will I need 2 passports to back and forth? Let me explain, can I enter Mexico with my Argentine passport from the US and fly from there with it? When I want to come back to the US I will just use my US passport. My cousin told me fly to Argentina to Cuba, Cuba back to Argentina then Argentina to the US, that is A LOT of traveling, money is not really an issue it's is I want to make it a bit closer for me. If it is too much of a headache, I will just wait until US gets buddy buddy with Cuba again, lol yah right like that will happen! CIAO!

About Disney Channel...?

About Disney Channel...?
Is it that hard as they say to get into it? I'm 15 years old now and I live in Argentina. In three years time, when my BFF and I finish High School, we wanna move to LA and make auditions for films. Our dream is to become actresses and get to know the Jonas Brothers! We love them! =) We are both taking dramma classes and we are about to start taking guitar and singing classes, cause I'd love to be a singer too. I'd love to have a life like the JBs, getting up at 7 am., making photoshoots, playing in concerts, doing rehersals, sound tests, filming, and I would definetly LOVE to have fans, not because of the fame or the money, but because it feels awesome knowing that people likes what you do! =) And we (well, at least, I) wish we could get into Disney Channel. For what I see, they say it's hard to get into it. Is that true? If yes, then how did so many teenagers like Hilary Duff, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, the JB, Zac Efron, etc, etc, etc get into it? Please, don't rude comments. I don't care if you think DC is good or not, I'm just asking if it's so hard to get into it. And if you have any other information about it like auditions or ANYTHING related to this industry, please contact me! Thanks for everything! =) Peace out n Xoxo! I know I gotta work HARD and I'm going to do whatever it takes to fulfill my dream. And I know I won't get a part in 6 months, I never said that, I said that I'd love to get into DC and I'll move to LA as soon as I finish school. But when we get there, we'll make auditions for ANYTHING and work really hard and TRY to get into Disney. And I don't think I'd be too old for that, I'd be just 18 years old. Look at Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Zac Efron, they were in their 20's when they got in! And yes, there is a Disney Channel studio in Argentina, but I gotta be sincere, I don't like it. I don't like anything that has to be with my country. I think tv, movies, books, everything it's made in Argentina IS NOT GOOD! That's why I wanna move. And, about what "theatrechic" said, I told you before that me and my BFF are taking dramma classes since last year. We already made a play at a real theater, we are gonna make another one this year and the next year, over and over again until we move Besides, I'm not trying to sound egocentric or anything, I don't want you to think something wrong about me, but I think I have some talent, I think I'm kinda good. I'm nost saying I'm perfect, great or anything. I just said I think I'm good at acting. And I'm starting to take singing and guitar classes so I can be good at music too. And about the JBs, I wanna know them because I think they're great, they're awesome! And I love them cause I'm a fan, like so many girls... Any fan would love to get to know them, as you'd probably love to get to know you're idol, whoever he or she is. Luckly, they're coming to Argentina next year, around June or July. And my birthday is in June! =) So as a bday present, I'm going to go to their concert. But anyway, I didn't ask my question to talk about them. I just wanted to know that: if it's so hard to get into DC. And people, please! I told you before! No rude or mean comments. If you're not interested on this or you don't like DC, don't even bother on answering me! PS: Sorry if I make any mistake. My english is not perfect...

of course it is! no matter how "good" you think you are, u still gotta work hard
2 :
I don't think it's THAT hard to get into disney but I think it's harder to become a disney channel star. There's this band at the high school I'm going to go to and they have a contract with disney. But to be a disney channel star....you have to be great at an audition.
3 :
you just have to have a really good audition with them.. i mean.. if ur perky and reallyyyy good they might pick you. but its tought b/c so many kids audition and dont make it. but you can't expect to grad. from high school and 6 months later your on the disney channel and have a role.. it takes experience and time. you should start off with doing commercials.. if they see you have experience they will want to hire you more.. so i would suggest audition for commercials now .. b/c i know u may not want to have to stop high school now if u have to film a tv show. but it takes time.. years.. nobody became a star in just months.. maybe they got noticed then. but u have to know all those ppl have been acting on shows and commercials for at least 5 years.. like hilary duff was in a movie when she was like 6 or 7.. the casper and wendy movie.. and selena gomez and demi lavato were on barney when they were 7.. i really cant think of ne1 who started at 18 and became famous at 18.. good luck though!

It's EXTREMELY hard. And the 'so many' you refer to were picked out of THOUSANDS that wanted to be where they are. Trust me. And isn't there a Disney Channel Argentina? I don't really know about all the over seas stuff, but just know your chances aren't high. I'm not exactly sure what they look for b/c there are so many people who are WAY better actors/actresses that never get chosen (no I am not referring to myself as I have never submitted to Disney before - but I know people who have) If you want some good news, moving to LA would help but that' pretty much it. Get some experience where you are so you at least have a good resume to send in.
6 :
to be honest im starting the road to become a westend actress. and if its the same for what u want to do as what i want to do. of course you have to have the talent and ambition/drive. and you can have all the talent in the world if you dont get given the right chances or know the right people you wont get anywhere.its alot about luck and your looks. one tip i have tho is dont do extra's work. it is looked down apon and you will nt be taken seriously as an actress. and dont forget its not all glamourous. if you make it u might not have a job for 6 months and b living on nothing and then youll get loadsa jobs at once. as long as your not in it for the fame but because you love it soo much! then you should be fine :) also one last tip. maybe go to a stageschool. like on saturdays or something. and join clubs ect to get more experience. hope that helps at all :)
7 :
If you want to get onto disney channel it is going to take ALOT of work. First off, you have to take years of acting classes and involve yourself in community theatre. Then you have to work in professional theatre and work on getting yourself an agent. After years of commercials, and possible small parts in movies and on tv you might get a role on disney channel. By this time, you may be to old for disney channel so I would suggest going to college with a theatre major and slowly working on tv shows, soap operas, and small parts until you are able to do large parts in movies. Not to mention having to get you S.A.G card and or Acrots Equity card. There is alot involved in becoming an actor and you have to be very devoted to your craft. So good luck and remember it's not easy to be on disney channel! As for the Jonas brothers, I'm not sure what you should do.
8 :
you shoudl do some classes!participate in plays! build up your resume! get an agent! do auditions! get headshots! actinginfo.blogspot.com acting411.blogspot.com hannahmontanacasting.blogspot.com and for an agent go to talentagents.blogspot.com and scroll down till you find city nearest you read everythign you see! and click on words in blue but not double udnerlined ones and i suggest that you sign up with alan baltes go to first site and look at right column it explains everything! he wont be an agent just help you out and its a one time fee of 30 dollars and totally worth it!please do not report mee ok i am not doing anything bad and this isnt spam or solicitation its not my site!i just copy and paste my answer cause its teh same for every question and sometimes i alter it! whats wrong with that?

How do you become a pro in Bolivia? Is it best to join a youth team or what? I heard you have to know people..?

How do you become a pro in Bolivia? Is it best to join a youth team or what? I heard you have to know people..?
I want to go their this up coming summer. I'm 14 years old right now and play goalie and I made the DC United u15 team, but it was too much money for me. I want to go down their to join Tahuichi Academy or some club youth team like Wilstermann, Aurora, Bolivar, or Oriente Petrolero. I know it may be dumb going down their because the country is poor and their not really good at soccer, but that's where my family is from and I want to go and play for them. I've recently talked to people and they say that it doesn't matter if you're in a youth team down their, you still wouldn't have much of a chance to make the first team. I heard you have to know people and have connections or be really good to get noticed from the youth team. I also heard that the Bolivian coaches buy the best players in the 2nd division teams in Argentina and Brazil and they pick them over their youth players. Does anyone at all have info on the soccer Bolivia and how it works down their? How can you make it pro in Bolivia? And does anyone know how the making pro and youth teams works in other countries like Brazil, Argentina, Spain, England, or Italy? I really want to make it pro and if anyone has any info can they please answer these questions? Thanks

why wont my girlfriend trust me to live with my friend (f) for the summer? is she overreacting?

why wont my girlfriend trust me to live with my friend (f) for the summer? is she overreacting?
im a 21 year old guy and ive been dating my girlfriend seriously for like 4 months, but we've been together for almost a year. anyways, i go to school but live by myself in a medium sized apartment. i like kinda need some money for this summer and next year so i want to sublet a room in my apartment to my friend who happens to be a girl. i totally dont think of Alexis that way and it would be just for 4 months while school was out. my girlfriend is going to be going back to home to Argentina for the summer and shes told me shes not okay with me living with another girl while shes gone. but the thing is id get 2000 and s no one else is really going to be around in the summer, itd be nice to have some company. id never touch her though obviously. i like offered to use $500 of it to take my gf on a trip but that just made her angrier??? how can i make her see its just for the money and that NOTHING is going to happen. i really love my girlfriend and she says she loves me too. why would she trust me?? my gf is like really gorgeous and smart, but i think shes a bit jealous because alexis is also pretty. i dont want estella to freak out though. is it just not worth it? i dont NEED the money, but it would be nice to have extra cash

i kinda do see whwere your gf is coming from , it would be horrible to be far away from your bf and knowing another girl is therer with him , even if its nothing but friends! i guess shes worried soething will happen between you and the other girl! x
2 :
she knows you better than you think
3 :
Have you ever done anything that would make her think that you would cheat on her with this girl Alexis? Or have you been involved with her at any point in time? I think just the idea of you living with a girl that is not her, would be make any girl worry, not too mention she is going back home - so she will not be there. Your best bet is to try to reassure her - at this point you need the money, but she needs to know that this is all it is about. Offering to take her on a trip is nice - but you said you need the money, so putting it towards a trip would seem like you didn't to her. Try talking about it again, but when she gets upset, don't start defending yourself but really TRY to understand her reasoning. Good Luck!
4 :
tell her that its jus for the money and nothing goin to happen if u can video chat with her while shes gone
5 :
Bro, shes gona get confortable living with you. Next thing you know shes gona walk around the apartment in a bra and panties bouncing them titties. Thing after another and its gona get dirty. Lisen to your girl friend, a woman is always right.
6 :
Well there has to be a certain amount of trust in a relationship, but there has to be a fair amount of consideration as well. Put yourself in her shoes. If you were going away for the summer, and she was going to sublet a room in her apartment to another guy - a guy who in which may choose to walk around in his boxers - share a shower, walk around in a towel, and may get to know your girlfriend on a personal friend level, see her every day, share meals... basically get the chance to live with her EVERY DAY when you are so many miles away..... how would you feel? She may not distrust you - she may distrust the girl and what she may try to pull. After all, who wants to get THAT phone call - you know... "Hey honey, I miss you - I love you too... we need to talk..." I don't feel she is over reacting at all. She is being honest with you and letting you know that she is uncomfortable with the situation. Even if nothing is going on, she will be sitting at home - worrying, fretting, and driving herself crazy just knowing that all it would take is one weak moment, one slip, one dream, one anything to make things totally change and destroy everything the two of you have. In my opinion, if you really cared and respected her, you wouldn't put yourself in a position like this. You are saying, "look at all the neat things we can do, a vacation and be comfortable, if I let this chick live with me!" And what she is saying is that she'd rather not take a vacation, and live on a strapped diet so long as you don't live with that chick. She loves you, she doesn't want to feel like she is sharing you. Show her you love her too, if you do.

just have her get to know your friend as well as you do.
2 :
Alright, one way to think of this situation, is to reverse it. How would you feel, if you were about to go out of town for the summer, and you found out she was shacking up with some dude, for the next four months, in the SUMMER of all times? Would you be okay with that, cause I sure as hell wouldn't. And men do give into seduction way easier then women do, what if that girl started liking you, and tried to make a move on you, the best of us men, have succumbed to seductresses before, and although you say you would never now, and don't think of her that way, sh*t happens. This is just a bad idea completely, and I don't know of any girls who would be cool with it, so just abandon it, if you still want to date this particular girl, cause I guarantee you won't be rather you actually cheat or not if you do this.

2 :
DUDE! seriously think about what you are saying. Would you be alright with it if she was living with a man friend? you have to choose ,,, your girl or the money
3 :
its just a girls thing she might not trust you since you've only been serious for 4 months but unless you've given her a reason not to trust you she needs to just suck it up and understand that you don't have feelings for this other girl or you can find a guy roommate just to make her happy
4 :
NOTHING that you will say will make her change her mind. I know this for a fact. Sorry, but it's the truth.
5 :
I wouldn't want my boyfriend with another girl either. I would try to figure out how to make more money to live by yourself or if you have to, live with a relative. If that doesn't work could your girlfriend move in with you and Alexis? Would you rather lose money or your girlfriend that you love?
6 :
you could say that if you wanted to cheat you don't need to be living with the girl to make it happen... but that will probably get you into trouble lol. best bet is to just do everything you can to be reassuring about your relationship. over the summer when you're apart, write or call... email... however you keep in touch twice as often as you expected to. make sure she knows she's still your girl and you're thinking of her. my bf lives far from me, and i have no problem with him being around other girls because he always lets me know he loves me and is thinking of me. if you were to go more than a couple days without contacting her, she might feel upset. if you take the time to keep regular contact, she should be fine. it's probably gonna be a pain in the ass but spending 10 minutes to write her everyday will be worth it and she'll appreciate it.

Help with football (soccer)..?

Help with football (soccer)..?
I live in California and my parents do not have enough money to put me on a soccer team. My dad can only take me every Wednesday to play a pick-up game with some of his south American friends. My father says I am very talented and that since I can easily dribble and score on anyone who plays against me that I could become a professional soccer player. My dad says he is saving up money and will send me to argentina next year or the year after that to play soccer or get scouted there. The problem is I dont know if this is possible and I cant wait any longer. I just turned 16 and I am 5'4" and weigh only about 98 lbs. I play like south Americans do and strongly dislike America because of their horrible style of soccer and love watching barcelona and the EPL. My dad says I have a perfect touch on the ball and would make a great playmaker and many people have told me this as well. I am so depressed and just want to play soccer with the best in the world but I dont know if I will be noticed.Should I allow my dad to send me to another country and give up all my education for my dream and if I am sent to another country do u think I will be spotted or is it unlikely?

2 :
No. It will be very hard for a pro team to spot you in another country. There are plenty of youth development programs that US soccer has implemented. The highest level of youth soccer is the US Soccer Development Academy. You should look into that. They play very well and fast. Most of their games are two touch. I am a referee and have done these games before. Trust me you are better off here. Plus you can get a college scholarship.
3 :
if u think your good enough go but americans suck at soccer.sorry they just do.i think this because look at real madrid and barcelona and look at galaxy... ya but anyways im goin to spain but idk
4 :
if you are as good as you say you are, you should keep with you education and play in college! if its a money problem, many colleges give out scholarships to talented athletes. you really need to think about all the possibilities! maybe you do try for your dream.. but Just think of home many athletes with more training than you will be going to that.... its hard to think about but you need to think bout responsibly about it ! your dream will always be there after college, you have several years to become better than you are now, its better to go in as experienced as possible!
5 :
if your good enough someone will spot you and make you great. take brazilian ronaldo for instance. he grew up very poor and became very successful. good luck

Do you honestly think everything is about white people?

Do you honestly think everything is about white people?
Do you think whites have it easy? I moved to America from Argentina in 2001. I have lived in three places so far: 1. a mixed neighborhood of blacks and hispanics, 2. a rural area alone, 3. on my own now in a city that's 94% white (I looked it up). I don't think any race has it "easy" or "made." You can't say that blacks are "uneducated" becaues they CAN'T go to college, there are hundreds of blacks at the University of Detroit Mercy (a private Catholic school, so yes they can get accepted any where). I am Hispanic, so I don't say we have it hard either. My stepmom (I call her mom) is Hispanic American and she has a very good job as a CNA, makes lots of money, and I have never heard her say anything about people being racist with her (other than our movie fiasco). People are going to find any reason to hate. We all could be purple, but you'd not be purple enough and they'd let you know. We all could have the same eyes, and they'd say your eyes are different. I truly think you need to let it go, I don't base anything by race and i find it ludicrous you base all your assumptions, "It's because he's black" or "It's because she is white." Really? Is it? I think if a black person has 40 years of medical practice and a white person just got out of medical school and was sued for malpractice the black is going to get the job regardless of race. Argentinians range in color. My mom is pretty dark, people ask if she is dominican. My father is very light, looks white (hence the movie fiasco). I wish to be a happy medium and I am lean towards one color rather than a mix. It's like most races, you come in different shades. I am from Northern Argentina, so we tan easier and some are a "tanned-looking" white people.

I dont really think about white people intill I go on c&g
3 :
no i do not think all white people have it easy but in america, alot of white people have more advantages than minorities
4 :
Who said whites had it easy?..Last I knew they worked 6 days a week like all other Americans, they paid taxes like all other Americans, they've had to endure a poor economy like all Americans. everything is a little hazy and salty for me to even digest what your telling me is even a reasonable debate or notion. I can't stand before you today and tell you anyone of any color has it easier or harder than me, Coz I haven't lived a minute or second in everyone else's shoes.
5 :
Couldnt give a Fkt.
6 :
No, everything is about people. Or should be.
7 :
i live in the uk not america. my mother told me that i was going to have to work twice as hard as white people to succeed when i was younger. i didn't get what she meant but that is indeed the world in which we live in. i don't complain though. i'm a hard worker anyway and having a victim mentality will hold you down whether you realise it or not. edit: and i'm not saying white people have it easy before people get their panties in a bunch. what i mean is that if a b and w person are both going for an important position, it's better for the b person to be more qualified to have a higher chance of getting that job. especially in a white country.
8 :
I dont think any race has it easy because everyone hates eachother...there's always gonna be someone out there that dont like you because of your race, culture, looks, personality... I think people say white people have it easy because generally speaking in most countries they are in the uppermost postions of power...however ehtnic minorities are making there way up into these postions too...Barack Obama for example :) I think alot of the time people say "whites have it easy" as an excuse to why they are not doing so well, or because they have little confidence or esteem in their own ability to do well... Interesting question :) xxx
9 :
yeah white ppl have it easier cuz they run the country and they want to keep it that way so everybody has to work twice as hard for the same thing like silky fart said. arent argentinas generally white maybe thats why you never noticed? edit im confused are you saying you look white if so this explains your american experience. i never met an argentinian that looked dominican they always look white maybe with a little native but mostly white. if you ask me latinos have it the hardest in this country especially the guatamalans i saw a white police officer using a guatamalan as a punching bag he thought it was funny and the poor guy didnt even know what was going on. it made me sick and also put alot of things into perception.
10 :
I don't think any race has it easier. But in Britain we are obsessed with class and so i think people with money, regardless of skin colour, have it easier in general.

career decisons? schooling/job? spanish teaching in latin america?
Im going to college and my goal is to teach in south america (prob argentina, chile, or somewhere) . . . i cant decide if i want to major in spanish and teach enlglish in south america, or just be a regular teacher? which would be a better career choice/ which would get more money/ and how much do teachers usually make down there, would i be able to support myself?

I taught overseas for many years. First of all, it's highly unlikely that you would get a job in a public school in a foreign country without being a native speaker of the language, even if you do want to teach English. Those jobs go first to their own citizens. Many foreigners teach English at language institutes, but the pay depends on your qualifications. You need to major in teaching ESL and perhaps minor in Spanish. You won't get rich teaching English, but you may be able to support yourself with the right qualifications.
2 :
Hey friend! If you want to teach english here in latinamerica, i thing u must go to argentina, cause, in chile, for example, they spaeak too fast and with an strange acent, and with the argentinians, you maybe understand spanish better, good luck, Caro, Mendoza, Argentina.

My family is abandoning me?

My family is abandoning me?
So I know that this is going to sound so sappy and dramatic but I really need some help. My dad moved out five months ago but he was still in the area and I see him as much as I see my mom so both parents are still a big part of my life. My parents, especially my dad, kept promising me that we would be closer than ever and that this would help us out in the longrun but I did not beleive him and it turns out I was right. My dad and mom are now dating different people, my dad is dating a girl I really don't like and she is really rich so I think my dad just might be dating her for her money which makes me upset because he was never that kind of a guy when he was married to my mom. Then he left for a month long trip to Argentina to climb Aconcagua and when he got to base camp that was his last chance to have cell phone reception and he called his girlfriend and my cousin but he didn't call me. This shook me up really bad and I am still wondering if I should be mad at him for it because he really hurt my feelings and I have been depressed about it ever since. Meanwhile my mom is dating a guy who is old enough to be my grandfather and he lives in a different state and I have only met him once before but now he is coming out to my moms house for Valentines Day and that has got me really mad too. Then my cousin came out to live with my dad for a few months and she is taking over his house and she is trying to take over my life and lecture me about being nicer to my dad's girlfriend and she is trying to change who I am and I don't even really know her and I just want her to go home. So with my dad in Argentina and he didn't even bother to call, and my mom engrossed with her bf and my cousin trying to take over my life I just feel like my entire family is betraying me and like I can't trust any of them anymore. I used to be really close with my parents but now I am more angry with them than I ever have been and I feel so useless and like a piece of c*** because obviously they don't care about me. Is it okay to be mad at them because they have ruined my life?

If I were you, I would kill myself. It seems that no one cares about you, not even people on the internet. Please end your life right now before you hurt others. Your dad is happy, and you want to destroy his happiness? What kind of person are you? Please, die quickly...
2 :
Stop expecting things from your parents and you wont be mad at them
3 :
Sure
4 :
Have they? What are you, an aging jobless alcoholic? Nobody ruined your life yet, and there is nothing wrong with growing distant from your parents. It happens to everyone who grows up. We start having a lot of personal problems to worry about, maybe our own family at some point, and we end up seeing our parents maybe once every few months at best. Try not to get so strongly attached to your parents, because one day you will have to start caring about your own self.
5 :
Yes, dear, you life is being ruined by their irresponsible behavior. You did not state your age. If you are old enough get yourself a job,and I mean any kind of job and move out of their lives. It is better struggling that way than demeaning yourself the present way. Don't bother about their love for you as they have lost the old affection they used to have. Just don't feel hurt, of course it is easier said than done, but make an attempt to be independent and away from them both. Destiny will guide you through life. You are a strong willed girl and maybe you will find a loving and caring life partner who will always keep you happy. Just a little tolerance, dear and everything will be fine.

What do i do? my life is so fucked up?

What do i do? my life is so fucked up?
I'm not depressed or anything, but i'm really stressed out about my future. i'm in 6th grade, and going into seventh in about 3 months. i'm turning twelve in less than a month. You see, this is complicated.... i lived in the US for 10 years. i moved to argentina and lived there for a year. my parents moved with me, and left my siblings behind. one of them was 18 and the other was 17. then i came back to the US and my parents are still with us. but my sister(18) is going to college in northern california. i live in so cal. and my parents are leaving to argentina after i graduate from elementary school. i cant go back to argentina or else i will really commit suicide. i would feel so lonely. so my parents made up their minds and are leaving me here with my brother, who is turning 18 soon. but he's so irresponsible and selfish and he'll use all the money my parents leave behind for himself. i hate my brother so much. he doesnt care about anyone and feels no shame no matter what. i swear, i dont know what my parents are going to do. but ofcourse, my brother is going to go to college next year since my sis is going this year. he's gonna be a senior in highschool next year and yeah... i'm really scared. i feel like my life is fucked up. i really want either my mom or dad to stay with me here in america. i never want to live with my brother, and they dont know who to trust their money with. they need to leave behind some so i can survive... and my bro wont go find a job. and they dont trust my brother, and they cant leave it to me since i'm only 12. and i dont know how i'm ever going to survive after my brother leaves for college. i'm scared,, what can i do? my mom and dad WILL leave to argentina for their job... somebody make me feel better and help me find a solution on what to do with my life.. You'll make it. You sound like a smart kid. Don't get so stressed out. Have you considered trying to make some money online? Your writing is probably good enough to write freelance copy. Take a look at Demand Studios and Elance. That should pay for food and necessities. You'll be glad you had to rely on yourself so much when you're older. You'll be a lot better at dealing with life than most people.

Can I get in trouble with the law?

Can I get in trouble with the law?
I'm married and have one child with my husband. Times have gotten tough due to the economy. I want to move to Argentina where all of my family is but my husband does not want tobecause he has his family here in FL. I know we can live in Argentina much better and put my own business. I would actually be able to go and do groceries without having to calculate and make sure I have enough money to cover. Can I just pick up my son and go? Of course, I would tell my husband to come with us and give him all the information of where I live in Argentina. But if I do this, can i get in trouble with the law?

GREAT question! unfortuntely, you should consult with a laywer instead of people in here. you may get into trouble ONLY if your husband reject the idea.
3 :
Depends on a lot of things. Is your son a US Citizen? Is your husband willing to let you take your son? If not and your son is a US Citizen, and you take him anyway it can be considered child stealing and the FBI might get involved.
4 :
50/50 my aunt fanny! women have more ownership than the men as far as i'm conserned. we bake and birth them don't we? You are not only the parent, but also the one who brought the kid into the world. Plus its not like you'd be taking off with the kid. You will let your husband know. He has the right to go and visit the kid, and bring him back if they don't like Argentina.
5 :
hey i would not because my brother is a lawyer and a person did that and it bad ... so no don't do it !!! ok thanks
6 :
Get a mutual agreement in WRITING. A parent is not allowed to leave the state or country without the others permisson. I've heard of ugly instances where the other parent sets the parent who left up with kiddnapping. It's best to get a courts "Judgement Order".

What is the future of Cricket?

What is the future of Cricket?
Hello my fellow cricket lovers. Leave your thoughts on the future of cricket. As of right now, we only have barely close to 20 nations playing internation cricket (ODI).Cricket is progressing, but very slowly. When would nations like Nepal,Fiji,Marshall islands, Argentina,Brazil,Chile,Hong Kong, Malaysia,Thailand,Papua New Guinea,China And U.S.A will find a break through to play international matches. If U.S.A can find a break through in playing cricket, it would be a great advance in cricket.Once Cricket will find a break through in U.S.A, it will draw more money into the sports which will develop the cricket further.I have a good faith in China, i belive they will turn out to be one of the best team in the world in the near future ( lets say 10 yrs) Chineese does have the tendency to learn faster and they are very passionate in learning new things, and very competiative. ICC Should spent money wisely to promote cricket worldwide ( Such as ICC stepping up to make a stadiuum in u.s.a )

There are alot more than 20 countries, here is a list of countries that are part of the World Cricket league (does not include ICC nations) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Cricket_League Nepals future looks bright, , remember the last under 19 world cup? their surprising win over South Africa, they are truly using their own homegrown talent , give them 3-5 more years, unlike countries like canada and USA(relying on ex-pats, disgusting if u ask me), Argentina is in the Same boat as Nepal, bringing up their own Talent. this is one team that has consistently been improving, Chili is making some strides, and if Argentina makes decent progress on a World Cricket league level (not ICC mind u), chili and Brazil will follow. China is Just Starting, their under - 15 team had a decent showing in the asian championship, 1 win , they hired a former pakistan test cricketer as their coach, give china 5-10 years. Malaysia has made some good strides, have held some International Cricket tournaments.
2 :
fine points you have there. I reckon Germans would be better than the chinese because they have the same mental capacity and they are better physically to play the game. don't think china will be great unless there's lots of $$$ and prestige thrown into the game.

I'm looking for the job that fits my skills best but I don't know what it is. Help?
I'm graduating college this year and I have no clue what I'm going to do. I majored in French, Spanish, and International Studies with a concentration in African Studies. I have international experience through 2 semesters of study abroad in Madagascar and in Argentina. I would love to have a job that takes advantage of that. I can learn languages quickly. I can adapt to new situations and environments. I'm empathetic and can easily understand another's point of view. I could travel internationally but not for long periods of time. I've talked to career counsellors but they point me towards NGO's...which is great but I'd like to make a bit more money. Any suggestions?

You could take an online personality/career assessment for free, which could help you narrow down your choices and also check out www.lmi.org or gov (can't remember which right now). That site will give you more info as to who is hiring, what the job would be like, the pay scale, etc, in addition to who is hiring and the HR's name. Good luck to you!!

What is an Iraqi baby worth?

What is an Iraqi baby worth?
I know that this question looks weird, but I have a reason to ask it.I was hired as a death squad in Argentina, Chile , Uruguay and Paraguay. During my trining at The School of The Americas, we were told that in the case we captured a pregnant terrorist, we must wait until the babie was born and then sell him to a family with no connection with the terrorists ( otherwise the baby would become a terrorist in the future). Of course, the mother was lately killed.Another aspect to consider was that that the terrorists had to be "missing people" so there was the need for an illegal adoption.I used to sell the babies for 10,000 pesos ( 100 dollars) , I bet that US Army officers are making a lot of money !Congratulations! So you think it is bull*** , ask this Jewish couple ( if you could....) for their baby... http://www.desaparecidos.org/arg/victimas/arcuschin/

Can you help me find a recipe??? PLEASE?

Can you help me find a recipe??? PLEASE?
Okay, I know it is a little early for christmas, but since I am only 14 and get a weekly allowance, I have to make sure that I have enough money to buy my family the presents by the time christmas does roll around. I have already figured out what I am buying everyone and my dad has always been the hardest to figure out what he would like because he spends most of his time working all the time so I dont know many of his interests. Anyways, I finally found the perfect christmas present to give him, the problem is that I can't find it. You see, I love cooking recipes, and one time, I made these Argentina Lemon Bars that he liked, in fact, I think that was the only recipe he really ever liked. The problem is that I found the recipe in a library book, so I never wrote it down thinking that I could just come back to the library anytime and get the book. Well, I forgot what book it came from so I haven't made it since then. Every now and then, my dad asks if I can find the recipe and every time I get every book in the series and try and look for it but come up with nothing. So this time, I am going to find it and give him a batch for christmas (since he can't put them in the closet :D ). If you have a recipe for it or you know the book that it comes from, can you please tell me the name of the book and if you have your own recipe, please make sure it is from Argentina. p.s. the series of the book were I got the recipe are called "cooking the (insert the region or country here) way". Also it could be found under EASY MENU ETHNIC COOKBOOKS. Thank You SOOO much for helping, you dont know how much this means and I'm sorry for it being so long. ^.~

I don't know if these are anything like the lemon bars you made before, but they are the best I have ever eaten. For Base 2 cups sifted flour 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1 cup butter For top 4 large beaten eggs 2 cups white sugar 1/3 cup lemon juice 1/4 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder rind from one lemon grated (optional) Directions 1 For the base mix the butter into the flour and sugar. 2 Mix with hands until it clings together. 3 Press into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. 4 Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. 5 For the filling, beat together eggs, sugar and lemon juice. 6 Sift together flour and baking powder. 7 Stir into egg mixture. 8 Pour over baked, cooled crust. 9 Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. 10 Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar. 11 Cut into bars.
2 :
Go to www.cooks.com and put in your question, like "argentina lemon bars" and it should give you a very simple recipe. That is where I get all of my recipes. And if you want to make something homemade, put in homemade in front of it. I make my own mayonaise, chocolate syrup, bbq sauce, and anything you want to make. I LOVE THAT WEB SITE! Try it, you will be amazed at what you can find on there. Good Luck!

Inheritance Law Who is a really good lawyer for a difficult case.?

Inheritance Law Who is a really good lawyer for a difficult case.?
A friend has an unusual inheritance problem in Argentina. His wife was Argentine and died. Her father died a few years earlier and the mother is still alive, but probably not for long. The man had two children, my friends wife and a son. Each of those produced ONE grandchild. Suspicious people feel the son is trying to get and hide the fathers wealth. Everyone in that family are very secretive about money, except to say they do not have one peso. The father who died could have left nothing more than a home, and his son says unpaid taxes make this expensive home worthless. The dead father claimed he "lost" two big businesses when Peron and his latest wife came back to Argentina and ruined the economy. The father has no will. Friend needs to know if his daughter should have an inheritance and exactly what assets there are. This must be done without cooperation of the dead father's wife, nor of the son. There may be other people or records that could be helpful. Is this work for a lawyer?

Am I responsible for someone else's credit card fraud, legal advice please?
I sold some speakers on Ebay to someone in Argentina, even though my auction stated canada or us. They won the auction, and paid me via paypal. I then shipped the speakers. Sounds easy. THEN, a week later I received a notice from paypal that the user filed an "unauthorized transaction" with their credit card company. So paypal charged the funds BACK to me ! Now I am out the speakers and the money. I dont feel that paypal is making a very fair decision. They state it may take that persons credit card company 75 days to get to a final decision, but paypal wants their money in 7 days? Does this sound right to anyone? I need some advice, paypal is being totally unreasonable. After receiving the chargeback notice, I went to Ebay and the user that won the speakers was no longer registered.

is it just me or do women from south america and eastern europe are very rich in values and morals?
I have met many women from several countries from eastern europe and south america, for example I have met women from Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina, and in my experience, all these women are very rich when it comes to values and morals, for instance, they are very polite, honest, they never use bad words, they don't judge men based on how much money they make, they also oppose premarital sex.... why do you think women from eastern europe and south america are this way? why can't women from north america and western europe be like that?

Why is the government in Argentina nationalizing all private pensions?

Why is the government in Argentina nationalizing all private pensions?
Some excerpts: Here's an excerpt from The Wall Street Journal story covering this outrage: "Mrs. Kirchner won't have trouble making the case for expropriation to Congress, which is controlled by her fellow Peronists. When the Argentine government ran out of money in 2001, it blamed the market and increased its own role in the economy. Since then it has imposed price controls, defaulted on its debt, seized dollar bank accounts, devalued the currency, nationalized businesses and tried to set confiscatory tax rates with the aim of making society more 'fair.'" http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122471757680560465.html Do you think the Democrat party would have trouble getting something like this by the U.S. Supreme Court? Remember, please, Kelo vs. New London. Also consider the recent forced seizure of a good portion of several large financial institutions in this country. Could something like this happen in an Obama administration? What are your thoughts?

That is next on the Democrats agenda for change. The change they are speaking of is going from a democracy to a socialist dictatorship.
2 :
Our pensions are already covered but in the 80's under Reagan many were raided and lost leaving millions without their retirement checks . No protection existed back then and today it is all secured and insured .. NOw its not secure from the ups and downs of the market .
3 :
I think that even if thats what they want they would never admit that it could turn out like that.
4 :
I say let S. America have its socialist agenda. They resist all efforts to make themselves anything but stong, so do it. They will see, like the nordic countries have seen, that socialism just increases taxes for useless programs, ties the hands of the government to special interest unions, and raises unemployment considerably because true entrepreneurial folks have no incentive to start businesses that are going to ultimately be controlled by the government. So, in summary, let them do it and find out the hard way that they are misguided. Then they can go from being 50 years behind the rest of the world to 500 years behind, just like the countries in the Middle East. Maybe then they will even set up Monarchies again! How wonderful.
5 :
The most frightening scenario is the government seizing assets from the population. We are on that path now. I have doubled my income over the past 10 years and I am still in the same house living the same lifestyle. NY State makes sure of it by taking 20K in taxes from me along with 1/3rd going to Federal. It's virtually impossible to live the American dream anymore, and so many voters plan to vote to take even more for THEMSELVES. They believe the government will solve their problems despite the overwhelming proof that it is the problem. Ask them to prove that Social Security and Medicare (2 largest programs other than the military) and they respond with rhetoric and attacks on how racist and cold hearted we are. Both are on the verge of bankruptcy, and those who pay most of the bills keep getting nailed by our own government that acts like they care. They are no different than the Mafia. They make the rules and you shut up and pay or they'll throw you in jail. Edit: WHY DO THEY ALWAYS THUMBS DOWN THE TRUTH????? a bunch of F*&King thieves! Brainwashed kids who are voting for more stuff. This is where my hard earned money goes. 90% of property taxes go to the union, and all these kids on here don't even understand it. They listen when the unions talk about "the children" but ignore the cold hard statistics. http://www.myshortpencil.com/teachersalaries.htm There is another article somewhere on the percentage of NY State pension checks that are mailed to winter homes in Florida. The poor unions. They make twice what you do because their pension is worth millions, and they don't pay state taxes.
6 :
I think Democrats will do what is needed for the economy to bounce back, as oppose to Republic party who is driven by free market mindless ideologues.
7 :
I think it will happen here. It would only take two more liberal Judges on the Supreme Court to pull this off.
8 :
Most definitely. It IS a form of socialism and it would only outrage anyone who has ever worked for something in their lifetime. But those people arent voting for Obama anyway. The ones voting for him are those who dont have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, and they fail to possess a willfull urge to go out and get anything for themselves. A majority of them anyway. Of course, you do have these college brats whos tuition was probably paid for by retirment 401k savings and what have you. Bottom line is anything is possible. I would see that going over about as well as a turd in a punch bowl though, because, afterall you are talking about someones "life savings". Thats a tough pill to swallow especially when you didnt even vote for the guy. Lets say that did happen or even if a "scare" that it was a likely possibility, arent 401k plans locked in to where you cant possibly drain them if needed or stipulations must be met if you try to withdraw the money? I never liked the idea of me saving money I wasnt able to touch...
9 :
This may not happen immediatly under Obama, but he will certinly set the stage for such a takeover.

Where would you rather go......??

Where would you rather go......??
Buenos Aires, Argentina or Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic? I have to decide where to study abroad this summer for a month and I've gone back and forth and can't decide!! I would be going for the month of may and in Argentina I would stay with a host family and a hotel in Danto Domingo. I love experiencing new cultures, safety is a major concern of mine, I don't want to be too cold the whole time, and I don't want to be spending tons of money. In Argentina I would be studying globalization, environmental constraints, politics and economics and in the Dominican I would be studying the impacts of tourism on population growth and movement. I am hoping that someone with knowledge of the countries could offer me some insight into these two places to help me make my decision. Thanks so much!!

I've been to Peru and Ecuador. I assume Argentina is similar. I'd call them "developing countries." I've been to the Dominican Republic. I consider it "third world." More crime, less culture. I'd vote for Argentina, based on my feelings about the country's safety, its culture, and I think the program of study sounds more interesting. Also, staying with a host family is a major plus in terms of safety and also learning the culture. So I give a very strong vote for Argentina.

I'd pick Argentina, and especially Buenos Aires. I've seen it on tv, and it's a beautiful city with a lot of cultural things going for it. It's on my list of places I hope to see. It seemed very European, in a way. I'm intrigued. Argentina had some civil unrest in past years, but that seems to have passed, and the country seems fairly peaceful. The Dominican Republic has its troubles. I know it's better now - a lot of my Dominican friends tell me it's gotten a lot better, a lot safer - but I'm still not feeling the love on that one. I'd be concerned about safety. Civil unrest is not all that unusual there, and seems to be increasing. In addition to asking here, check out the listings for both countries on the Lonely Planet website, and in the guidebooks for young people that you can get in the bookstore: Time Out, and the Rough Guides are good. The Lonely Planet and Rough Guides tend to be quite frank re: safety and etc. In addition, the Lonely Planet website has a forum where you can look up old questions and ask your own. It may be a good resource for you, as you try to make this decision.

hey! im a dominican, and i've lived here all my life. The thing here is that the country is too corrupted and yes, crime is everywhere...is getting better, though...here you r deffinately NOT going to frezze, and it depends where u r staying in Argentina... public education here sucks, as i said, the country is wayyyy too corrupted. Everybody treats foreing people suuuuuuuper well, because we r a turistic nation, we feed on turist! (not literaly! XD) If ur going to a private college, like APEC you'll like it better. The public university though, is the FIRST one in america, i mean of the whole continent (proud of that!), so it has aaaa lot of history...but, there is way too many people, and, i hate to say it, dominicans are not the most educated people in the world, but hey! thats how we r!! also, if u r studing turism here, you'll be on the right place, cause turism is what is keeping this country up, and like, produces 75% of our income! Really, there are thousands of hotels, all the kinds, people from all over the globe. Also, you will be coming to the first colony in America, where Christopher Colombus set his hub for the expansion of Spain through the continent. There is not a country with more history and mixture of cultures in its folclore than us in America! we have the first hospital, the first cathedral, university, city, colony, CC house, street, etc... When my cousins come from the states, they love it here! "i wish i could live here!" and stuff, but hey! The ones who live here are desperate to get out...that's why im keeping a 4.0 GPA, so i can get a schoolarship and get out of here for at least 4 years! i think you would like it here, i mean, if it was more time, i wouldn't recomend it, the difference in culture and traditions, is toooooo big, but, for a month, i think it will be very insightful. Globalization you can study everywhere, but nothing better than to study in a hub of turism like in the DR!! There is not a country that looks more like Europe than us, since it was built by the spanish, most of it!! If u come, make sure u visist the colonial zone!! is wonderful at night, but if ur giong at night, make sure u are NOT alone, cause it is dangerous. Go in the day so u can take a tour! is soooooooo wonderful, is my fav place! if u can, go to Santiago to the Centro Leon! Is my favorite museum! It has all dominican history and culture in one building! The powerpoint presentation at the begining, almost makes me cry! is sooooo crazy gorgeous! there are tons of bargains in the colonial zone, in the street called "el conde", so u r not going to spend much! a dollar is 33 dominican pesos, so, do the math!! To resume, there is crime here, but if u are careful, you will be fine, i mean, crime is everywhere! you will love the summer heat, all visitors do! you'll leave with the hottest tan ever! you are going to learn so many things because you r going to live in a country that is devoted to serve their turists! i think u r even gonna learn some politics because that is always the topic of conversation here...trust me, u are going to understand what a third world country is, and that people here is not really miserable as people may think, but rather we learn to cope and be happy! i love my country, but like u, i want to expand my education and live in other type of place for a while...i would highly recomend u to come here! im sure you are going to love it! g.luck! check it out! http://www.dominicana.com/ http://www.dominicanrepublic.com/

Uruguay´s Suarez hand cheat - save score issue?

Uruguay´s Suarez hand cheat - save score issue?
First: in suplmentary time, Boateng make a penalty clear to Abreu, where the opnly one in that area and the referee can see him clearly. Second: The foul wich provoque the situiation (weirdly official transmition don´t give repetition of that play ;) was absolutely fake. Even people of transmition see that if you don´t see it. The 10 of ghana is offside after first head punch (amazingly the line man (who give the fake foul) don´t see it. Then come suarez foul. Concept of cheat: scape of the justice to take adventage EVIDENTLY, HE DON´T SCAPE OF JUSTICE, HE WAS FIRED, MISSES THE NEXT MATCH AND GHANA CAN WON TRHE CGAME IN THE LAS PENALTY!!!! If Gyan mistake, sorry for gyan, but thats the facts. If yopu are angry with someone, shut be gyan, who mistake the penalty. If Where the exactly opposite situation, and forlan miss the penalty, Who will be saying that gyan was a cheater? Forlan miss, guilt of forlan, is clear. Also I don´t heard anyone say that tha panalty against ghana by an australian player with thge hand in the line in the group phases was cheat Then when is cheat?? ¿When the shooter mistake? Then is cheat also when some player touch other in the area and don´t let him shot?? HE CAN´T SHOT, THE OTHER IS CHEATTER?? ANSWER: NO, is a simple penalty. The player stop a possibility of score, like the ball don´t cross the line, is not score, i a posibility, and the players can stop it, attending the consecuences,, of course. And what´s up with LUIS FABIANO? Because he make a score in a play twice touched with arm and hand? And what you say?? OH!, it´s sop bestifull thet doesn´t matter (second score against Cote dívore) And aslo was an african. And the referee make jokes with the situation.... Then, why he can broke the law so clearly, for those purist? What you don´t care is that there been a team that anyone wait, beside suarez pay, not like luis fabiano, and anyone say anything. And if you want to speak of cheat. Some europan country won a world cup stolen from semifinals to uruguay and argentina with other european and the local afetr stole the other europena: Was the only one time thy won a world cup, or has been in semis :-)))) THEN: those who say he is a cheater: 1) Dont see the match and repeat as parrots what they heard from journalist (this is a sport of very free interpretation) 2) Are envious (specially in south america) of that a small country without money can make this. 3) You ´never has play this game with the correct passion 4) You don´t feel this sport wioth the corect passion 5)You don´t know anything of this sport and say what you believe fron unknowledgement And if yopu are not here..... PS¿WHO WAS THE FIRST OF SPEAK OF CHEAT?? I want to believe that wasn´t the english in the press conference, english injured by the uruguayan referee uin the match against germanyy??? :-)

On behalf of everyone here, I'd just like to say what?

Learn to speak English before ranting like that because no one will take you seriously. I did see the match, I have played football with correct passion, whatever the f*** that means, I love the sport, and I know a lot about it, and that cheating asss hole Suarez doesn't deserve to ever play again for his country. What happened before the free kick is irrelevant. Ghana would have been much better off if there was no free kick, that way they wouldn't have had to take penalties with their hearts already broken. If you ask me, Suarez us an embarrassment to his country, football, and every football fan in the world. If you think it's okay for players to cheat and use their hands to keep the ball from going inside the goal, you're the one who doesn't like the sport with correct passion. Besides, what's done is done, there's no point in getting mad about it like a lunatic. I was sad that Ghana lost but now I'm over it, and Uruguay will need a ****-load of luck and 20 more pairs of Suarez's hands to beat Germany. Uruguay didn't even deserve to get out of the group stage, the only reason they did is because France sucked.

Uhmm, I don't know if it's just me but I really did not understand what you just said. But as for your question, for me, the game is called FOOTBALL, the rules says that you can use any part of your body except for your arms and hands.. so yeah, i consider suarez' move as cheating. But hey, desperation makes you do stupid stuff right? lol
4 :
Oh my God!! You Uruguan bastards are still alive?!! Get off n take your dirt away with yourself.
5 :
thats not cheating "xtine" it would be cheating if the penalty would not be given to gyan but you say cheating because gyan missed and ghana lost. if gyan had made the goal we would not be talking about this, what you want is ghana to win not matter what. and in the first place that ball was not a foul the player tripped and fell, so justice was made
6 :
The reason everyone says that Uruguay cheated is because it was a clear goal, its not like it accidentally hit him and might have gone in or not, it was a goal, he cheated and FIFA aided him by their archaic rules, it shouldve been a red card and a goal even if it didnt cross the line, I know sometimes penalties should exist, the case being if its a tackle on the player from behind or something, but in this case it was clear the goal should have been counted and the player given a red card, without a penalty, why? because thats as if youre denying the ball was ever headed toward goal in the first place, Uruguay cheated and Today they got what they deserved not even a Third place! losers!!

Before I left home, I be seeking and reading every word of blogs from people who are also traveling in the same area. I would think that your safety is not at all assured. Not only are there plenty of people who'd rob you for your shoes, not to mention your three hundred bucks, but have you ever walked the desert alone? Try it in southern Arizona or New Mexico before taking off. It can be grueling, the task of carrying the water you need fully daunting even if you're quite fit. I know a woman (online only) whose family is bicycling from Alaska to Argentina. I believe they're in Mexico now. Read their blog at http://familyonbikes.org/blog/

Take a lot of water because the water there is different.

I'm planning a trip to Macchu Picchu this year in October.?

I'm planning a trip to Macchu Picchu this year in October.?
I'm trying to save as much as possible on the hike up the Inca Trail (4-day hike) but so far all the registered tour guides seem to be $500 or more. Is it possible to hike WITHOUT any tour guides? If not, can anyone recommend a cheaper tour operator? In addition, I'm looking forward to making my way down to Argentina so I need to think conservatively with my money. Thanks!

You have to have a guide, that's the only way to do it. And reserve as soon as possible, because only so many groups are allowed at one time. It's worth it though. It will be your biggest expense in South America but you will never, ever forget it.
2 :
I just booked my hike for May. You MUST go with a guide and there are NO cheap ways to do it. I searched many many different companies and the cheapest one I found was $1400. This includes a few nights in Lima and Cuzco, the hike, the entrance to Machu Picchu, the 3 hour train back to Cuzco, the food. Mine is through GAP tours and trust me, my mother is a travel agent. She worked on this trip for 3 months for me and this was the cheapest one. But It will be so amazing, I can't wait.

You need a guide and I would recommend setting it up before you get there - $500 is a decent price.
4 :
Yes you definitely need a guide. Having been all over South America, my recommendation is skip Peru altogether and spend time in Chile and Argentina. Maybe Brazil. Peru's all hype.
