Liberals, would you ever support the confiscating of 401K's and IRA accounts...?
a la the recent events in Argentina. After all, if I contribute the maximum to my 401K and Roth IRA from the ages of 25-60, According to historic market returns I would have more than $6 million upon retirement. Would that make me rich, and entitle other people who "need" the money more to part of it? LOL. So much naivety. I'm sure that if your party masters ever decreed such an act, you would be jumping through hoops to defend it. How else can you explain your defense of transforming Social Security from a defined benefits plan funded by personal contributions into a welfare system funded by the "rich". LOL. Darwin; hope you are not a professional gambler, because I am maxing out both my 401K and my Roth. AIS: Nobody is talking about the current suggestions of tax reform. The question is hypothetical. Try to keep up.

Congrats, you win the Joe the Plumber Golden Plunger Award for the lamest question of the day!
3 :
If you were smart you would pull all of your money out of anything 'American' before Obama gets in and put it in off-shore accounts.
4 :
Sure, if the 401ks and IRA accounts belonged to scumbags like mccain's buddy charles keating or bush's pal ken lay. (since they stole other people's life-savings it would just be retribution)
5 :
You are a genuine fruit cake. No one is going to take your money. Now you may have to pay 40% tax on anything you withdraw over $250,000 a year vs. the 33% you would pay now. This is not the end of the world, give us a break.
6 :
No. I teach a financial management class and tell people to do what you are doing. Remember that you may not have COLA when you begin to withdraw your funds. How much do you put into your 401k? 10% of gross income, I hope. None I bet.
7 :
THANKS to the current economy we WON'T HAVE ANY 401K's!!!
8 :
No. Republicans have allready seen to that with the Stock Market crash
9 :
No. After 35 years of strict free market capitalism, your $6 million won't be enough to qualify you as "rich." Inflation will render it to about as much as $600 is worth today. Tax revenue is necessary to run our country, and thanks to the Bush administration, the richest 5% are the only ones that can afford the taxes.
10 :
As it is, the government allows raids into your IRA, SSI and 401k plans. What you think is yours is, in fact, unsecured. Look for a different outlook on retirement plans as the government socializes the banking industry. Why should our tax dollars go towards providing a profit to government?
11 :
Certainly not. But, since the "con's don't want to pay any more taxes on their taxable income, we need to stop giving them a free ride with tax deductions for contributions to those IRAs and 401Ks. They may not feel that higher tax rates are fair--but they have no right not to pay taxes on ALL the money they earn, like everyone else has to.
12 :
With the Democrats in complete power, under an Obama regime, I put nothing past them. Here's an excerpt from The Wall Street Journal story covering this outrage: "Mrs. Kirchner won't have trouble making the case for expropriation to Congress, which is controlled by her fellow Peronists. When the Argentine government ran out of money in 2001, it blamed the market and increased its own role in the economy. Since then it has imposed price controls, defaulted on its debt, seized dollar bank accounts, devalued the currency, nationalized businesses and tried to set confiscatory tax rates with the aim of making society more 'fair.'"
13 :
No, even though that's what the crapitalist pigs of the Ponzi Street wall scheme tried to do and pretty much succeeded. Why do you ask if liberals support a conservative scam?
14 :
You are either highly confused and/or a hard core, right wing, FOX watching, Rush and Hannity loving, thinks Max Drudge is god, Republican. Not sure how you equate a rise of 3% in taxes over $250,000 to 'confiscating of 401K's and IRA accounts'. You obviously need a heavy dose of reality.
15 :
Guess, you don't know how 401Ks work and I guess you don't understand how assistance programs work (welfare)...Do you know it cost the tax payers more of their money to support the Iraq war for only one month then it does to support the welfare system in this country for an entire year... If you are so concerned about your money maybe you need to start complaining about the war since that's where the money is really going
16 :
That money is going to get taxed anyway, so what is your point. Taxes pay for Police, Fireman, Armed Forces, Education, Highways, Coast Guards, EM T's, FEMA, FAA, FBI, FDA, FCC, and every other government acronym. People who need it are spouses of those who lost their lives fighting for freedom, the elderly whose children do not care for them, children in foster care, Palin's wardrobe, summer homes for the CEO's of major corporations. Welfare is the least of your problems. I for one work hard. Well I appear to work hard behind my office door while I rigorously respond to Jackasses on YA, worried that their pseudo wealth will be squandered on poor Neeegro children in the projects whose parents are too lazy to work. Meanwhile their mothers work 12 hour shifts wiping the asses of old white women for $8 an hour because their children are way too busy checking their blackberries to smell the shit she has been stewing in for the 8 hours the nurses aide was actually allowed to go home. By the way Medicare pays that bill so I guess you'd cut that off too and let that old bitch die. The people that need help are the cashiers in Walmart, McDonalds, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, the Gap, Old Navy, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, The Nurse's Aides, Janitors, Maids, Servants, Waiters, Waitresses, Dental Hygenist, Secretaries, Receptionist, Shoe Salesman, Supermarket Employees, Customer Service Rep at your phone, cable, electric company, the Security Guard, bus driver, token both clerk, train operatpr, mechanic, the rude bitch behind the desk at your local department of motor vehicles, gas station attendant, school crossing guard, teachers, public school coaches, guidance counselor, college admission counselors. Sorry I have to take my lazy ass into a meeting right now.

A lot of these answers from the left are downright alarming.... has the feel of a Gestapo type attitude. I have visions of productive people getting rousted out of their houses by brownshirt-clad Obama Youth forces, bussed off to re-education camps when they resist confiscation of their property.

ho wis this magic trick done?

ho wis this magic trick done?
this is the magic trick: magician to audiance-introduction: "b4 i go 2 sleep i always put a notepad next 2 my bed so if i have a funny dream or if i think of a good idea i can write it down and i wont 4get it. sometimes i wake up with serious things written on the pad and sometimes they're dumb and sometimes i see really good ideas written there. i wanna show u a funny dream i wrote this passed week, but 1st, i'll need a volunteer". he chooses a volunteer and says: "tell me a name of a country". volunteer: "argentina". magician: "i will now need another volunteer 2 tell me a make of car. how about u there, tell me a make of car". volunteer: "subaru". magician: "and i will now need some1 2 name a color" volunteer: "bright shiney orange". magician: "now u, back there, tell me a high number". volunteer: "1832". magician: "now lastly, can u here please tell me a currency?" volunteer: "australian dollars". magician: "thank u. i will now need a volunteer who will get 2 take my wallet out of my pocket." volunteer takes wallet outof magicians pocket. magician: "now please open the zipper section. u should c a closed envolope in there. open it. now, take out the piece of paper inside it, and read it out loud 2 us". volunteer: "wow. this wasmy weirdest dream ever. i just landed in argentina, and in the airport i started thinking what im doing there any y im not at home, when suddenly this guy comes 2 me and asks me: "would u like 2 rent a car?" "what kind?" i asked. "a subaru". i always loved subarus, so i took the deal. little did i know i was getting the ugliest subaru ever- it was bright shiney orange!!! anyway, i asked the guy how much the renting is, so he said "1832". so i took out my wallet 2 pay him, but all my money was suddenly turned from argentinian money 2 australian dollars!!!! and then i woke up". applause... this is not a paid trick- i was 1 of the volunteers!!!

That is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Those "volunteers" the magician chose from the audience are not real volunteers. They work for him and he chooses them on purpose. They say what he has told them to say.
2 :
The volunteers are paid.

THIS TRICK IS VERY SIMPLE IVE SEEN MY TEACHER DO IT FIRST, THE MAGICIAN HAS THE WHOLE THING WRITTEN DOWN BEFORE HE DOES THE TRICK, EXCEPT FOR WHERE THE ANSWERS OF THE QUESTIONS ARE GOING TO BE. THE FIRST PERSON IS HELPING HIM DO THIS TRICK THE WHOLE TIME. THEN,HE ASKS EACH VOLUNTEER A QUESTION. EVERY TIME HE ASK THE QUESTION, THE FOCUS OF THE AUDIENCE IS ON THE 2ND AND EVERY OTHER VOLUNTEER AFTER. WHILE THIS IS BEING DONE, THE FIRST "VOLUNTEER" SECRETLY WRITES DOWN THE ANSWERS IN THEIR CORRECT SPACE WHILE THE MAGICIAN IS ASKING THE OTHER VOLUNTEERS QUESTIONS. WHEN THE "VOLUNTEER" TAKES OUT THE WALLET HE SECRETLY SLIPS THE ENVELOPE IN THE WALLET WITH ALL THE ANSWERS WHILE HE "TAKES OUT THE WALLET" BUT WHAT HE REALLY IS DOING IS PUTTING THE ENVELOPE INSIDE THE WALLET THAT HAS BEEN INSERTED IN THE POCKET A CERTAIN WAY. THE WALLET IS LEFT OPEN READY FOR THE ENVELOPE TO BE PUT IN. WITH ALL TEH CORRECT ANSWERS, THE AUDIENCE WOULD NEVER EXPECT THE MAGICIAN TO HAVE WRITTEN IN THE PIECE OF PAPER

Letter to David Cameron (2)?

Letter to David Cameron (2)?
Comments please. Dear Sir, Below are my thoughts on how you can make yourself the most popular politician in centuries, and make our country a better place in which to live. These are not in an order of importance. Falkland Islands’ oil discovery. There has as I’m sure you are aware recently been a discovery of massive oil deposits near The Falkland Islands. The revenue from this must accrue to the Exchequer of The United Kingdom and must not under any circumstances accrue to the Treasury of the Falkland Islands. These monies’ will form a “seed corn” to make the UK the envy of the world, so simply put: Money from Falkland’s oil to UK, not Falkland’s government. This may require retrospective legalisation and will provoke no doubt protests from the inhabitants of the Falklands, so be it, this will be a storm worth riding out. I speak as a South Atlantic medal holder; to think that the war was fought with no benefit to the UK is anathema to me. Vote winner-large. (See defence) Defence. Trident: Scrap it, the system will never be used, waste of money and resources. If it is considered necessary to have a nuclear deterrent purchase a few dozen Cruise missiles which can be nuclear-tipped and launched from submarines. Vote winner-large The defence of the Falkland Islands must be strengthened, position at least 5 squadrons of fighter bombers aircraft at RAF Mount Pleasant . At least 3 nuclear powered submarines to be positioned to intercept any attempt by the Argentine Republic to convey an invasion force to the islands. At least 20 surface naval vessels must also be stationed near the Falklands to similarly deter any Argentinean aggression. Land forces of at least 5,000 must be stationed on the islands, believe me Argentina will never give up its aspiration to seize them. Vote winner-small, But imagine if you went down in history as the Prime Minister who lost The Falklands and all that revenue. Afghanistan Leave. There is nothing to the benefit of the UK in staying. We will have to go sooner or later as a defeated army, leave now and stop the terrible bloodshed currently being suffered by our gallant troops. How will you feel if “on your watch” the death toll rises to 1,000? The incursion must be seen for what it was, a ruse by New Labour Marxists to commit our once proud armed forces to an unwinnable campaign in order to humble, belittle and decimate them. The war is unwinnable, let’s be bold enough to admit we have made a terrible mistake. Our armed forces’ first priority must be the Defence of The Realm, not Blair’s foreign adventures. Vote winner-huge. Foreign aid. Cease all foreign aid immediately. Aid being given to countries which have Space Programmes and nuclear weapons? Ridiculous. I don’t believe you could possibly understand how this largesse is hated by ordinary people. Ring-fence Foreign Aid but cut Defence spending, how does that look to the common man? Vote winner-astronomical. Immigration. All to cease forthwith, except of course from the EU. This ban to include students, family members of those already here. Asylum seekers, to be incarcerated as illegal immigrants, no more allowed freedom. Logic, they have escaped to stay alive, in jail they are protected and alive. Soon they’ll go elsewhere and it won’t be our problem. Vote winner-astronomical. Crime and punishment. Keep all our present laws and penalties with the following changes. Anyone found guilty of a crime which could attract a sentence under today’s rules is to be incarcerated until his 105th birthday, thus if the offender is 20 years of age he would receive a sentence of 85 tears, if 30 years of age 75 years and so on. There will be no right of appeal against sentence. (The 105 year law) After about 6 months of this being in operation crime will be non-existent. Prisoners to do useful work in jail, or no privileges. Vote winner-astronomical. Identity cards. Proceed but also obtain DNA samples from everybody. All adults to have fingerprints taken and affixed to ID card with DNA details. Vote winner-medium, but huge when both these measures make the UK a crime free country. Unemployment benefits. All able bodied claimants are to be employed on public works as a condition of claiming benefit. Unable bodied persons can work in offices overseeing the employment and deployment of the able bodied. But at the very least get 40 hours a week work out of them. (It will also keep them out of the pubs) Offer “old-style” apprenticeships to young people, get them earning instead of going to University to obtain a “non-degree”. Vote winner-huge. Tobacco products. Give due warning, then ban them outright, Finland is about to. Vote winner-extremely negative but again a storm worth riding out. Sun beds As above. Vote winner-slightly negative. Climate Change. (AGW) Most of the British voters do not believe in this unproven theory. They do

I expect he wants to win the election though. Also I shouldn't think he's too keen on throwing away what's been gained in Afghanistan and probably losing our alliance with America in the process.

Erm, I'm sure it's all very interesting... but WAY too long!!

Really, just read the stories. They're good! All right, I'll tell you what they were about. James Joyce was always writing these stories about poor Irish people who came to America before the 19th century. Eveline is a woman whose mother died. Her father sometimes beats Eveline's brothers, and she's scared he's going to beat her too. She doesn't want to stay with her family anymore. This guy Frank wants her to run away with him to Buenos Aires. She decides to do it. But just as they're going to the boat, Eveline hears this song. It reminds her of the song she heard the day her mother died. She remembers that the day her mother died, she promised she would take care of the family. Eveline can't leave. She tells Frank she's not going to Buenos Aires with him. She does it without any emotion too! And she goes right back to where she came from. In The Rocking-Horse Winner: Paul's mother is always on about how they're poor, they don't have any money, it really sucks, and it's because the father has bad luck. Paul decides that he has good luck. God told him so! Also, he hears voices. The voices come from inside the house and they keep telling him that they need more money! So Paul's on his rocking horse and he has a vision. He knows what horse is going to win in the horse race. So he tells his Uncle Oscar and Oscar places a bet and the horse wins! Paul doesn't want his mother to know where the money came from, it's his secret, so he has Oscar give her the money. But the mother's still not happy and the voices won't stop. They both keep demanding More Money! So Paul keeps getting on his rocking horse and having visions and winning more money. He really wants his mother to be happy! At the end, the mother starts worrying about Paul. But it's too late. She finds him on his rocking horse screaming out "Malabar!" She doesn't know what that means. Then he passes out and is taken to the hospital. The ending is really sad! Read it!
